About this listen

Jimmy Strong is one devastating son of a gun.

He's gorgeous, stubborn, a dancer, fiercely protective of his loved ones (to a fault), and intense. He can steal your heart with his infectious laughter...and break it with a single glance of his stunning, rich brown eyes.

I ought to know. He breaks mine every day.

Being his gay best friend and college roomie is, to say the least, frustrating. Especially when you've seen just about every inch of that corn-fed beauty, he's worked his way into every fantasy you can remember having, and he's as straight as they make them.

We're heading back to Spruce for the summer. He just broke things off with his latest lady-squeeze, which means I have Jimmy all to myself for three long months of relaxation, bro-time, and kicking back.

Until one night alone with Jimmy - and a reckless, unthinkable move - that changes everything.

Contains mature themes.

To dream about the straight boy only to lose in the end. However, not the case in this story. Watch as Bobby Parker who yearns for his best mate Jimmy bares actual fruit. Story slow to start but once the point is made the roller coaster finally takes off. Hallmark ending

The Dream of every gay boy.

I am listening to the Spruce books out of order because I had not planned on listening to all of them. I started with Spruce Rebel. And I absolutely loved it so much I had to go back to Spruce Texas again. I just finished Hetero flexible and I loved it as much as if not more than the last one. Now I am totally in love with Spruce Texas and all of it's residents. I can't wait to go back to Spruce in the next book I listen to. I think Mr Daryl Banner is truly amazing about how he gives so much detail about all of the characters you feel like you personally know them. And his stories are so vivid and detailed that I felt I could close my eyes and watch this play out like a movie in my mind. Again for the second time I had to stay up half the night to finish this amazing story. I also enjoyed the narrators. I feel they also helped bring the story to life for me. I highly recommend The Spruce Romance series. And thank you Me Daryl Banner for writing such incredible stories. I had so many emotions crying, sad, happy, smiling, laughing. I can't wait to go back to Spruce Texas. I would actually love to move there if it were an actual real place

I am in love with Spruce Texas

The only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars is because I felt like some of the scenes/events in the book needed a little more spice. It needed a little more spice. Overall good read though. Easy to read.

Great book!

I'm a new fan of Darryl Banner. While I'm not usually an overly romantic gay reader, I've changed my mind. Seems like so many gay themed novels are written by women, how nice to read a love story between two normal southern boys. Also very little homophobia in the story line, very nice.During this covid period I listen to the books as I excercise. This makes it important that both the story and the actors reading good and believable. They are good in this book.

very good read

The cover of this book threw me a little. I new Jimmy was becoming a dancer and Bobby plays soccer. But that isn’t revealed by the cover. I listened to this and it was a pure joy. Kirt Graves is a favorite and I like Chris Chambers too now!!!

Love this series!

Love it Jimmy Strong is Tanner Strong little brother and a dancer and straight dating all the women in his dance class back in Sprucer. Bobby Paker is gay soccer player bestfriends and college room mates he has a crush on Jimmy Strong. Jimmy was going to take Bobby to gaybar they were in the hotel room Jimmy kissed Bobby now he can't stop thinking about it.

Jimmy and Bobby fall into 'like'. Which turns into love. The steps they take in between are filled with lust and fear. Instead of going underground with their teenaged hormones, Daryl Banner allows them a big dallop of grit, sweat and male determination, as the lifelong buddies bravely peel back their secret inclinations to be together 'that way'. Braver than most small-town bros dare to go, "Heteroflexible" left me wishing that I would've dared to risk everything to be together in public with my own highschool bud.
