Publisher's Summary

Do you have back, neck, or shoulder pain that keeps recurring or won't go away? Do you have to "baby" your back? Does back pain keep you from living a full life? If so, you may be suffering from TMS - (Tension Myositis Syndrome) - and you don't have to take it anymore!

Dr. John E. Sarno, author of the revolutionary book Mind Over Back Pain, is a medical pioneer whose program has helped patients overcome their back conditions- without drugs or dangerous surgery. Now, using his latest research into TMS, Dr. Sarno goes one step further. After identifying stress and other psychological factors in back pain, he demonstrates how many of his patients have then gone on to heal themselves without exercise or other physical therapy.

Discover why self-motivated and successful people are prone to TMS, how anxiety and repressed anger trigger muscle spasms, how people "train themselves" to experience back pain, and how you may get relief from back pain within two to six weeks by recognizing TMS and its causes.

life takes a u-turn

Dont miss this book if u ever felt back pain. It changed my life from a person who had become fearful of sitting for more than 10 min, going out of home for long and what not. It brought me back to my mountaineering, soccer days. Within a few weeks of listening to this book I was back on a trek at an altitude of 4400 mts and finished the trek in 2 days instead of avg 4 days. I started running after a period of year and a half. I bought back shoes for trekking, running and soccer all of which I had thrown away as doctors had said I would never be able to resume these activities. This book happens to be the biggest bliss to back pain sufferers. THere are no words to thank Dr Sarno for this approach to deal with back pain. Cheers Dr Sarno !!!

Think the minuet in G

Any additional comments?

I understand that a positive attitude can alter your neurologic responses to pain; negative attitudes can bring the whole world down upon you. Beyond that, this 'Doctor's' OPINIONS seem to be based on anecdotal stories, not evidence or case studies. If you believe that thinking the minuet in G is going to help you march in a well tuned orchestra, go ahead and waste your money on this book. If you are looking for motivation to address your back issues, try reading Crooked (which referenced this book, but didn't give it much 'air time'.)

A good listen

Would you listen to Healing Back Pain again? Why?

The information is helpful with understanding the behavior of the unconscious mind and how it can cause pain.

Do not buy this book!

Very disappointing. You are listening for hours to find out why Sarno is supposed to be giving you a superior solution whilst he doesn't give you a clue on his ideas. Wish I had spend my money wiser.

Healing Back Pain

A very thought provoking book which made me ponder the nature of my back pain. I have to admit that since taking the advice of Dr. Sarno I have had considerably less back pain than before. It's not a hard process, rather a change of attitude.
I'm glad I read this book.

disappointing

Three hours of case studies "proving" his technique works, and about five minutes on the technique itself. Summed up: look for emotions you're hiding from yourself, and deal with them.

This book changed my life

10years after curing my back pain I finding myself being healed again after a relapse. Apperently if you forget enough details it stops helping. Thankfully it works again even faster. The trick is to believe, when you do it 100% it works.
You can heal your back pain.

Fantastic book

Would you listen to Healing Back Pain again? Why?

I've listened to it lots of times. It was easy to listen to, with the author having a great reading voice and very well structured. Complicated process's were explained in a very detailed way and I could understand the concepts that were being presented properly.

Most importantly the book has helped me to heal my back pain and tension heartaches. I would recommend this to anyone.

The only book you'll ever need to heal back pain

I was a little skeptical when I first started listening to this book, as I had suffered from back pain (fibromyalgia) for many years and tried countless treatments. As I listened to Dr. John Sarno's narration, I identified with everything he said. It was like he was describing me ??? my personality, my pain, and my pattern of symptoms and associated treatments. I threw all the treatments in the bin, said goodbye to my physiotherapist, and gradually got better within months.

Listen to Dr. Sarno, listen to your inner self, and you WILL recover from back pain without anything else but this book and a lot of patience. Good luck.

A colossal expose of the prevailing ‘will to ignore”

...... the emotional entity always with u, commonly against us.

“There is a principle which is a bar against all information, which is proof against all arguments, and which cannot fail to keep a man in everlasting ignorance - that principle is contempt prior to investigation.”

Repetitive and lacking practical advice.

this book is frustratingly repetitive. Potentially very helpful content for someone with back pain but it barely skims the surface of how to actually go about implementing the healing practice in your own life.

Essential listening for any back pain sufferer

This is Doctor Sarno's first major back pain book. A great place to start but make sure you also read or listen to some of the more modern titles.

READ THIS

This is a hugely important book that could change your life. dr Sarno is WAY ahead of his time. This works. I'm a v skeptical person and it took me a while to really believe it but it's working and my RSI is getting better. He does say here that there's no inflammation with TMS but this is an early book and later it is acknowledged that swelling is indeed a symptom of TMS.

Half way there!

It was interesting... However it was more about diagnosing you with this issue ... Then no real help with the actual issue.. When the book had finished I felt like 'okay well I probably do have this tms thing.. But now what?' .. Is there a follow on?
