Publisher's Summary

A sexy, funny, stand alone short Christmas story.

Patisserie Chef Christopher Miller works for Big Boy Cupcakes, London’s only gay bakery. His boss had closed the bakery on the 23rd of December, and Chris was looking forward to some well needed time off, and Christmas alone. But then his boss calls him with a last minute order - the order of his dreams - to bake for his movie idol, actor Jason Beck.

Just as he is about to deliver the order, Chris’s dreams are turned upside down by an explosive, fateful meeting with Fred, an errant Chocolate Labrador. The dog’s owner turns out to be Robin Summers, a one night stand from months before...the man that Chris could not forget.

Christmas

Just when I thought I had the day off plans change and the day comes with ups and downs like a roller coaster ride. I loved the theme of the bakery. I did think the book ended to soon there was potential for the story to be longer but not over the top. Gary has a wonderful voice to listen too.

Cute short story, great narration.

I really loved this short story about a baker who makes naughty cupcakes and the man he hooked up with once and who didn't remember him. This was a perfect title to listen to late in the evening when I didn't really want to start listening to anything long. I've loved all of the other books I've read by Isobel Starling so I new this would be a safe bet. As usual, Isobel's writing was great and Gary Furlong's interpretation of her words, with his great variety of voices, made this a very enjoyable listening experience. A free copy of this audiobook was provided to me but my review was voluntary and not influenced by the author and/or narrator.

Fun, Sexy, Fluff - with a chocolate lab & a ginger

Listening to the audiobook version of Isobel Starling’s Fred & Ginger is the perfect way to spend an hour on a dreary stay-at-home rainy afternoon. Patisserie Chef Christopher Miller of London’s only gay bakery, Big Boy Cupcakes, gets an emergency call to bake the luncheon treats for his movie idol, actor Jason Beck. As Chris attempts to deliver the order, he’s knocked down by Fred, an exuberant, adorable chocolate lab, whose owner turns out to be a former one-night trick of Chris’s named Robin Summers. Ginger-haired Summers apologies, and offers to help Chris bake the replacement order. And so the fun begins! Gary Furlong’s narration is spot on.

Funny

A quick, funny, holiday story starring Christopher Miller, a pastry chef, and Robin Summers, the owner of Fred, a chocolate lab. The book is told in third person from Chris and Robin's pov. An accidental meeting brings Chris and Robin into contact again after a one-night stand they had many months ago. The meeting also destroys the special cupcakes Chris created for a movie star Chris idolized. Things heat up again as Robin offers to help Chris remake the cupcakes. I enjoyed the humor of this short fic. The narrator did a good job with the accents, it was easy to tell the characters apart. However, he spoke a little too fast so I had to lower the audio speed. As to the writing, I noticed instances of head hopping that weren't proceeded by long enough pauses to indicate that the pov was switching. If I was reading the book instead, I'm guessing there weren't any separators or warnings of pov changes, so this would be a head-hopping flaw. I noticed the author tended to use the descriptors, 'older man' and 'younger man', quite often, which I wasn't a fan of. Finally, I picked up the incorrect use of the name, Robin instead of Chris, at the end of the book. Overall, the humor was good, but the head-hopping was noticeable. The narrator spoke a bit too fast. Still this was a fun story to listen to for the holidays. I give this an overall rating of 3.5 stars. I received a free copy of 'Fred and Ginger' from the author for an honest and unbiased review.

I will never look at egg whites the same again :)

I really enjoyed this quick, sexy and a bit funny story. After a disastrous cupcake spill due to Robin's dog, Chris and Robin are stuck working together trying to complete another order of cupcakes in time to deliver them to Chris’s favorite actor. Only thing is Chris knows Robin and is upset when Robin doesn’t remember him. Robin and Chris are both likable and I wish I could get more of them. I love the way the two interact with each other. Gary Furlong did a great job. I really enjoy his narrations and love how he draws me into a story.

Romance, pastries, and holidays! An Excellent Mix!

While on Christmas Holiday from the bake shop he works for, Chris gets a call from his boss about a special order that needs to be made right away, and it just so happens to be an order from his favorite movie star, Jason Beck. Chris agrees and goes to work to make the tasty treats for Beck's party. But while taking them out to his car, a Chocolate Labrador takes out the whole order. What is Chris going to do now? The dog's owner turns out to be Chef Robin Summers, a one night stand of Chris' from several months back. Robin offers to help Chris remake the order. Robin happens to be the one night stand that Chris cannot forget. Unfortunately, Robin has forgotten, which makes their evening of pastry making a little tense..... Isobel Starling has done it once again, creating real, dimensional characters in a brief story. Her characters are always outstanding, and there is always more to them than meets the eye, so to speak. Pick this one up and enjoy the holidays and maybe a batch of penis cakes! Fun, Wonderful, Sexy Short Story

I absolutely loved this short audiobook. The characters were both sweet and lovable. The mood is light and humorous, and I liked the way that the story didn't go quite the direction I initially thought it might. I expected something like a "guy meets idol and has a hook-up" story, or even a cinderella kind of story, where the guy meets his heart-throb and something deeper happens. Instead it was two ordinary guys brought together by a dog and a cupcake disaster who get a second chance to connect. The bakery scenes were fantastic and humorous. I loved the descriptions of the cupcakes, and the hoops Chris makes Robin jump through before he lets him help. Yeah, making him undress in front of the curtainless window. Awkward...and funny. There were some sexy times in the kitchen, but this is more romance than erotica. Wonderful all around! Gary Furlong does his usual great job of narration. I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Christmas tale of love

Great short listen by Isobel, who never fails to disappoint. This short story revolves around Chris who has an order of Speciality Big Boy Cupcakes to make and deliver to his idol Jason Beck on Christmas Eve but as you can guess nothing goes to plan. A dog, a man and an egg white make this a hilarious tale of second chance love. Gary Furlong is a superb narrator.

A deliciously funny and sweet Christmas tale.

Chris Miller is a patisserie chef who specializes in cupcakes with saucy toppers. He gets the Christmas order of his dreams and then those dreams are dashed with hilarious and sexy results. This audiobook was, as expected from Isobel Starling, laugh-out-loud funny, kinky and sweet. This 'second chance at love' short story was great fun. I was entertained by the comedy and delighted by the romance. Gary Furlong never lets me down when it comes to his narrations. Listen to a sample and you'll be hooked!
