just a worthwhile book gives a great narrative and a great View of the time of Jesus and what was happening with the Jews.

great story and insights

Lund's insights into the culture and story of Christ's ministry and life are very interesting and give deeper meaning to my personal study of the bible. I listened to this with my wife and young children while studying the New Testament and it's a great companion to bring the Bible to life.
At first I wasn't sure I liked the performance, but after an hour or so he had brought the characters to life for us and though his deep voice probably isn't great for female characters it ended up working for my immersion into the story and people.
I can't wait to listen to the next book in the series.

Wish Audible had more of this series!

Loved it & want to hear more in this series! Looks like I'll have to wait for Audible to catch up to order more :(

Insights into the way it was at the time of Christ

A fictional but believable story of some characters portraying what it could have been like hearing about Jesus Christ when he first came. The various Jewish factions and the struggle with the roman empire and the actual historical description gives it realism, mixed with scriptural history and a good deal of drama and internal conflict to make it feel like you are part of it. The most important story ever told, done so well.

Love the message, history and scriptural reference

What an amazing message and history of the time Jesus lived on the earth. I love the scripture references and the fictional characters that play a part in the story. I gained a lot of insight and love for our savior and scripture by reading the book.
