Publisher's Summary

Kelly Jacobs has already paid the ultimate price of loving a warrior. She has the folded flag and the grateful thanks of a nation to prove it. Navy SEAL Joe "Bear" Baker can't ask her to accept that risk again, even though he loves her. But the man responsible for her husband's death is back, closer than either of them realize. Kelly's in danger, and Joe may not get there in time.

This romantic suspense with its theme of God as refuge provides a firsthand look at life in the military, where serving God and country create truly uncommon heroes.

Don't miss the other books in the Uncommon Heroes series.

Slow story but good narration

Could have done without all the Bible thumping. Forced myself to finish, but didn't enjoy it as much as I hoped.

Awesome and Inspiring!

What did you love best about True Devotion?

I loved how this book ties crisis with faith. Whenever I get discouraged in life I listen to this.
It reminds me there are other more pressing matters in the world. With these events, there are individuals that risk everything daily so we can live a free life. I need books like this to keep perspective.

What did you like best about this story?

I loved everything: the story, the characters and the message. I have
listened to this series many times when I am in need of inspiration and
Motivation. I have recommended this series to many and they get hooked😄

What about Tom Stechschulte’s performance did you like?

Some people think his voice is unusual. I feel his voice suits the
Rugged characters that he portrays. These characters are Navy Seals. In my mind, there is an inner toughness that allows these men to do the impossible on a daily basis. He conveys this with his intonation and cadence. Two thumbs up!!

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes

Any additional comments?

Loved this story so much I own all the Dee Henderson stories.
I can't wait for her new story Full Disclosure in Oct 2012!!!

Christian romance

What disappointed you about True Devotion?

Rugged right wing SEALS pray in length to The Lord. The author seemed to have no distance from the ideology of her worldview.

Wish I'd known it was a religious book @ purchase

I certainly have nothing against inspirational religious books, and if I want to read one, I'll search in that genre.

We all have our own backgrounds and individual characteristics and most books have fairly wide appeal. Others, are written for and appeal to a very specific audience. If nothing tells me otherwise, I expect a book to be fairly generic. I purchased the book, thinking it was a regular old romance, only to find out in the first minute of listening to it, that the book was "an inspirational story of religious devotion". Nothing against this particular genre, just not what I was looking for. I expected a generic romance. If that is what you are looking for, you may find the inspirational and religious components distracting.

If you enjoy this genre (and enjoy books of religious devotion and inspiration) and it matches your personal beliefs / practices, I recommend it. It contains many references to the character's "being good Christians",includes you in character's personal prayers and conversations with God, and references bible passages.

When I purchase a book, I want to know if it's content appeals to very specific audiences.

Audible, please make that info more clearly available BEFORE purchase, please! If a book is written to appeal to a very specific audience. This is not the first book I've purchased, only to find out in the first minute of listening, that the book's topic or genre was not what I'd expected or was looking for, and I'd wasted my money on a book I wouldn't read..

Fabulous!

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I listened to it any chance I had. The Narrator at times was a little annoying, but otherwise good. I loved the message of how the uncertain future and trial of events helped the characters rely on God all the more. Moreover, God always came through for them. Thank you Dee for such a fabulous book!!
