Publisher's Summary

Honorably discharged from the Army after an explosion nearly killed her, former military psychiatrist Brooke Adams has set up shop to help others - but her days of helping military personnel are over. She's got her own battles to fight from her time overseas, and she's not equipped to take on more. Former Army Special Ops Sergeant First Class Asher James could handle anything that war sent his way - terrorists, bombs, bullets. The only thing that scares him now is sleep. As the shadows close in, the nightmares begin.

Finally convinced that he needs help, Asher makes an appointment with a counselor, and Brooke is pressed by her boss to take him on. When he arrives at her office she isn't there - but a dead body is. Brooke is devastated when she walks in, and Asher is a conveniently strong shoulder to cry on. But she can't take him on as a client after sharing such an intimate and unprofessional moment, can she? And he's not sure he can handle sharing his deepest fears with such a beautiful woman.

When it becomes clear that Brooke was the real target of the attack - and that her secrets go even deeper than his own - Asher vows to protect her no matter what.

Dark Plot

Geez Louise what a dark plot! I think I’ve read (and LOVED) everything Lynette Eason has written, but was completely taken aback at how dark this plot was! Spoiler alert- children used for organ harvesting, and the American military pulled into the sinister plot! I was within an inch of not listening to the end.

Disappointing

I typically like Lynette Eason books but the performance made this one unbearable. I stopped listening less than halfway through.

A great story

It’s hard to believe this stuff goes on today but it does. Makes me sick. I like the Narrator but I wish she had the ability to change her voice to support the characters.

The worst book by Lynette Eason that I have listen

For me this book plodded along like I was walking in 2 feet of mud. There wasn’t anything to grab me and kept reading. Sorry but for me this was a flop.

I couldn't relate to the story with the Reader

the person reading doesn't do justice to the story, had to quit listening
This story needed someone who could do a Male voice as well, she couldn't sounds like female character's, some women readers can do justice for both. This one cannot

Hard to get through

It’s the longest book ever. She takes forever to read it and I’d like to return it because it’s not even interesting to get through it.

lots of suspense with a real life twist.

this book was wonderful. it's a sad reality that some people view some lives as worthless and collateral instead of seeing everyone as equal and worthwhile. quite a thriller and lots of suspense.

Changing Events

The storyline was somewhat confusing at times when the author suddenly changed to another event.

interesting story

The book was good and the narration was great. Hard to follow as an audible book. It would be better to read the paperback.
