Publisher's Summary

At 31, Noah Calhoun, back in coastal North Carolina after World War II, is haunted by images of the girl he lost more than a decade earlier. At 29, socialite Allie Nelson is about to marry a wealthy lawyer, but she cannot stop thinking about the boy who long ago stole her heart. Thus begins the story of a love so enduring and deep it can turn tragedy into triumph, and may even have the power to create a miracle.

Some people write bad books

The story was trite and predictable. The ending was creepy, and the accents were offensive.

Best love story ever

What an invigorating love story of real true love. The romance, the passion and the contentment let you believe that true love exist even now. The love letters add character to the story.

Real love isn't easy!

Any additional comments?

I don't normally like to read a book after I have already seen the movie version, but the movie was so good that I figured the book must be amazing. The book was indeed very good and I was surprised how much the book and the movie are alike. Typically, movies leave out so much detail but I think the movie portrayal of this novel was spot on. I was surprised to discover that this was the author's first published novel as he has so many now and all of them seem to be adapted to film. No need to describe what the novel is about as it is a popular work, but I will say that this is one Nicholas Sparks book that does a great job describing deep, true love without a heavy dose of cheese and cliché.

I recommend this book for ages 16+.

Good Story

I am new to reading for pleasure, but have been a fan of the movie the Notebook since it came out. A top 5 movie in my book. I will say, for the first time, I believe the movie was vetter thsn the book. The skipped over and has minimal flashbacks to when they were young & met. I needed more of that.

good story though.

I absolutely loved it! <3

Where does The Notebook rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I have to say in my top five atleast!

What did you like best about this story?

I love this aughtor, this is the third book i've "read" now and I'm going to keep on listening to the rest he has written too. I hope they are as greate as this one. The thing I liked the best? That nicholas manages to create the "perfect guy" and bring him to life for all us hopless romantics hoping to find our prince charming!

What does Barry Bostwick bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I think he sounded like the noah i pictured in my head!

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Its already a film, but it would be something like "world's best lovestory!"

Any additional comments?

Absolutely one of my favorites!

A formula book that dragged on too long.

Sometimes I just need a simple romance to checkout of life's stressfulness, but I found this book very poorly done. I don't have high expectations when I chose these quick little romances, even at that it was bad and dragged on far too long. The story could have been summed up in a short story for a magazine.

Bad. Really, really bad.

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

I can't imagine.

Would you ever listen to anything by Nicholas Sparks again?

No

What do you think the narrator could have done better?

Nothing. The writing was so poor.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

boredom.

Any additional comments?

I like a well-written romance novel, but this one was tedious. I listened to the end, but wouldn't have continued reading it in text format.
