mean little ghost

I liked this book. It kept me listening. The characters were well thought out. I love ghost books and haunted houses. Caroline Clark always brings the creepy out in her stories.

I was given my copy of this audio book at my request and chose to leave a review.

Couldn’t Finish It!

The story was okay. Although, I didn’t understand why Mason seemed like he was going to be a bad guy in the beginning of the book, but it wasn’t true. I thought the author was going to make the house turn him. That plot line was not well thought out at all or it was just sloppy.

My real problem was with the narrator! Her cadence was atrocious in a breathy sing-songy sort of way and things went downhill from there. I couldn’t decide exactly what she was attempting to do. When she would try to say a word it seemed like she only had the energy to say 5/8’s of it. What did she do with the rest of the word? Eat it?

I would suggest she learns how to speak before she tries to narrate. I made it to the final 1.5 hours of the book. By that point, I really couldn’t give two figs about Jenny, Mason, Abby, Victoria, but most importantly the NARRATOR.

Listen to the sample and if you think you can take 6 hours of the narrator, go for it. The story might be worth a listen. The thing is the narrator is the voice of the story; they are completely intertwined. If one or the other part is woefully lacking, then the whole thing is a disaster.
