Publisher's summary

Julie Barenson's young husband left her two unexpected gifts before he died - a puppy named Singer and the promise that he would always be watching over her. Now, four years later, 29-year-old Julie is far too young to have given up on love. She may be ready to risk caring for someone again. But who?

Should it be Richard Franklin, the sophisticated, handsome engineer who treats her like a queen? Or Mike Harris, the down-to-earth nice guy who was her husband's best friend? Choosing one of them should bring her more happiness than she's had in years. Instead, Julie is soon fighting for her life in a nightmare spawned by chilling deception and jealousy so poisonous that it has become a murderous desire....

Great book!

The narration was amazing. As always with Nicholas Sparks, I loved this book. Some things were a little predictable, but the narration toward the end of the book, made my heart race in anticipation of the inevitable……..

Where's the prologue?

While this is my favorite Nicholas Sparks book the entire book is based on the prologue, which is left out of the performance. Without it you are left unaware of how Singer came to be and why he meant so much to Julie. Then at the end Julie reads the "final paragraph of the "letter", which again, wasn't part of the performance. I can't believe the editors didn't catch this. Really disappointed!

storyline felt similar to another novel.

although The Guardian came well before Safe Haven, the tone seemed very similar to one another.

A real tearjerker ♥️

I read this book many years ago. One of my favorites, it made me cry so hard, it took years for me to be able to read/listen to it again. Nicholas Sparks is simply amazing.
