In this heartfelt Southern love story from the #1 New York Times bestselling author of The Notebook, a daring fireman rescues a single mom—and learns that falling in love is the greatest risk of all.

When confronted by raging fires or deadly accidents, volunteer fireman Taylor McAden feels compelled to take terrifying risks to save lives. But there is one leap of faith Taylor can't bring himself to make: he can't fall in love. For all his adult years, Taylor has sought out women who need to be rescued, women he leaves as soon as their crisis is over and the relationship starts to become truly intimate.

When a raging storm hits his small Southern town, single mother Denise Holton's car skids off the road. The young mom is with her four-year-old son Kyle, a boy with severe learning disabilities and for whom she has sacrificed everything. Taylor McAden finds her unconscious and bleeding, but does not find Kyle. When Denise wakes, the chilling truth becomes clear to both of them. Kyle is gone. During the search for Kyle, a connection between Taylor and Denise takes root. But Taylor doesn't know that this rescue will be different from all the others.

I liked the story and the performance however I now know I don’t care for the background music and noise. It was too loud for me and I felt it took away from the performance, just by opinion.

Always like stories Nicholas Sparks

Excellent story and obviously a lot of research was completed on children with language impairment disabilities. Unfortunately, the music did not match much of the story and was quite annoying. Also I do not stand why the reader portrayed the child's speech as he did. This type of learning disability does not equate to that type of speech impediment.

Wonderful

It’s a great storyline and it has its moments where i didn’t know where it would take. Loved the characters and the backdrop of the storyline. I’m an avid audible listener but the music and sound effects are unnecessary for a great book.

I highly recommend this book.

Classic Nicholas Sparks

I always enjoy Nicholas Sparks stories. This book is no exception. My only complaint is not toward the narrator, but the background sound effects and music, which I found distracting from the overall performance.

Great except background music/noise

Good story, cried in all the right places; however, music was annoying. Made for a sappy love story
