Destroying Soul

Jace has lived a horrible life since his wife died until he meets Kitt even then he still experiences horror (you have to listen to the ending to find out) . This is a dark, scary paranormal romance with horror. It not only has a ghost but demons and full of suspenseful twist and turns. Recommend if you enjoy a suspenseful thriller with some romance. I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review. Thank You.

Dark and intense

Unique story. Very intense and dark paranormal listen with unexpected spots of humor. I loved the story and the characters, Jace especially was a very complex and intriguing character. Does end on a bit of a cliffhanger. Will definitely be looking for further books in the series, can’t wait to see where it goes. The narrator gave an amazing performance and made the listening experience. I received a free review copy of this audiobook at my request and I have voluntarily left this review.

Horror/Paranormal/Romance or somewhere between

I'm not exactly sure where to categorize this book. It is more horror with some paranormal with enough romance to even go in that category. All in all, it wasn't a bad story. It took me a minute to get where they were going with this wife situation (and I was wrong most of the time anyway), but that was one of the alluring things about it.

The story in a nutshell is, there's this guy whose wife killed herself a while ago and now she's haunting him. Literally. He's running away, or attempting to practice great avoidance of her family because they believe that he killed her and are trying to ensure that he's extremely miserable. Enter a girl who eventually opens up to him and accepts him and all the craziness that comes with it.

There are butt kicking battles, ominous moments and enough romance that you wouldn't know that someone could pretty much die any minute. Even though there are parts of this book that are full of cheese, the romance wasn't so overbearing that it became a distraction from the plot. I'd like to say that it easily supplemented it and became a part of the ending... which wasn't wrapped up nice and neat... The ending was open, which isn't bad if you like that kind of thing...This book was given to me for free at my request and I provided this review voluntarily.

Death may be final, but love doesn't give a shit.

Rated R

"Death may be final, but love doesn't give a shit."

What a way to open a story. From the first few minutes, it's obvious Jace's story isn't a happy one, and is most likely going to be a bit of a wild ride. Even with the synopsis and tour info, I wasn't prepared for this story. I don't mind unhappy endings, but this was so much more than that. The entire story has a level of suspense, and getting to see into the reality Jace hides from the world is incredible. He's living a nightmare only he can see.

I love the concept of bringing a more tangible after-life existence into a story, and having it meld with the living. I'm a sucker for these kinds of stories, and this one was exceptional. The hopelessness Jace deals with in simply being labeled with a mental disorder was tragically realistic. In a way, it forces you to ask the question of how "fiction" this kind of story is - are there people out there dealing with this sort of terror every day?

For any fan of paranormal tragedies, this one is a must read or listen. The book, I'm sure, is fantastic, and the audiobook was superb. Eddie did a fantastic job of expressing the life Jace was living, as well as all the other characters who ended up tangled in his sticky web. My only complaint was the few adult scenes, which I don't personally care for - the rest was fantastic. It's a story that will get your adrenaline pumping, make you want to fight alongside Jace, and give you another reason to wonder if things that go bump in the night, aren't just inside your head.

*I was given a complimentary audiobook copy of this story, from the author, to listen to in exchange for an honest review.

Worth the Narration

"I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review."

Edward Mittlestedt breathed such life into this cross generic paranormal/romance/slight horror/suspense novel. In the way I listened to him soo many times, yet the story was flat and failed to keep me focused. Seriously, as creative as the idea was, it was boring. And I know we're in a more Girl Power era, but I don't think I'd jump at the opportunity to drive a new interest on a date. I'm certainly certain there are some qualities even a strong female companion would expect from a love interest. Charges of murder, no license ... Smh. It's just *gag me* Why couldn't the location have been altered to city living - it'd be more believable...
The cliffhanger didn't help either.

I will seek out more books by this narrator, but this series is nearly forgotten already. The romance is thicker than the characters.
