Great stories by some great authors!

Any additional comments?

Let me throw in a little disclaimer.

I authored the final story in this Anthology, so I will not be commenting on that. However, since I had not read any of the other stories until this release, I feel it is fair for me to review the anthology as a whole.

Other than Chris Philbrook and James Dean, this was the first time I have read (listened to) any of the other Authors. They did such a fantastic job throwing their own spin into the AUD series. I really enjoyed them and it felt like an expansion of an already well developed world.

If you haven’t read the AUD series, you probably won’t understand some parts of the stories (like why people have weird dreams). I’m counting on most people have, though. Some of the stories indirectly affected the actual AUD storyline, while others were their own little spin somewhere else, affecting people you have never met.

One specific story I’d like to point out is Chris’s story “Only a few miles to home”. As a veteran, it is nice to see someone shed some light on PTSD. Episodes can be set off by one thing, or a conglomerate of things. Thank you, Chris, for that story.

James Foster did an outstanding job as usual. I was super giddy when he did Redemption and nailed the African accent. It was awesome!

Try it. Enjoy it. And check out the authors that participated in this fantastic Anthology!

What a great compilation!

Another phenomenal book that tells more stories that take place at the same time as Adrian's. Some of these directly affect him, while others simply stand alone. Although each story in itself is great, I would highly recommend reading the complete AUD series first.

Great Take on an awesome Story

What did you love best about Only the Light We Make?

The best part of the story is the different stories. Written by fans and approved by the creator. All the way around this is a great book.

fave of the series so far

I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the author, narrator, or publisher.

First of all this is my favorite narrator! While I liked the first in this series I truly enjoyed this one. There are some great authors included with riveting stories. I hope to hear more from them and this narrator. I highly recommend reading the AUD book series before these!

A Must Have Anthology of AUD's Multiverse

Only the Light We Make was steeped with rich storytelling in the vein of AUD. I enjoyed every single story in the collection. There were several that I could say were my favorites. Of my top three were "Redemtion", "The Shadow", and "Only a Few Miles From Home." ALL the authors outdid themselves adding their own unique perspective to Adrian's world. It's like an AUD multiverse. Each story complimented the others.

This was a fantastic listen and I would highly recommend it. I haven't listened to all the AUD stories and found this easy to follow. There's an excellent human element in these stories unlike many others in this genre. I'd say if you're new to Chris Philbrook or any of the other authors or Adrian's Undead Diary Series, then pick this one up and get started.

James Foster is bar none one of the best voice actors there is. He gives each of these stories their own individual feel while staying in the 'verse of AUD. His performance was outstanding, especially in Redemtion. Loved it!

Essential Adrian's Undead Diary reading

This is a collection of short stories set in the AUD universe. Some are written by Chris Philbrook, the AUD author, and the rest are written by other authors. I am not going to summarize each of the short stories in the collection, because I don't like those kinds of reviews. Some of them add welcome nuance to the AUD story line, but they are also interesting in themselves. Ever think that someone could've been in a funeral home when the zombie apocalypse happened? Because I didn't, and it made for amazing reading. If you have not read the AUD main story arc - what are you waiting for, go do it!- I think you may still enjoy some of these stories as general zombie fodder. But many of the stories rely on the world building done in the main stories, so you will miss some things. If you HAVE read the main AUD stories, this is a must have. You will love the backstories! I want to go back and reread AUD (again) to incorporate what I now know into the main arc. Most of the stories were pretty solid. A couple weren't my favorites, but I finished listening to them. I had no desire to skip any stories, I think it just comes down to personal preference. I think it is pretty amazing that even though these short stories were written by different authors, they all had an AUD feel. This whole collection is awesome and I will be listening to it again.

James Foster narrates like a boss, as always. He has done an amazing job on all the AUD books and short stories. I highly recommend.

I received this audiobook for free from the author in exchange for an honest review. I am embarrassed to admit that I was going to buy this audiobook anyway when I had the credit. Getting it for free feels like trick. But, I did review it in a speedier fashion than I would have if I'd bought it myself. So, getting the book for free didn't change my review, but it did affect the speed with which I posted it.

Buy Chris Philbrook's stuff. You won't regret it. It's one of my favorite incarnations of the zombie apocalypse.

Simply Great

What made the experience of listening to Only the Light We Make the most enjoyable?

Different authors different views of the AUD world or rather what else was going on during AUD.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Only the Light We Make?

Zomie Fix, Miles from Home and Redemption really stood out to me for different reasons. Zombie Fix for it's cleverness and to me originality, Miles from Home for it's emotional intensity and Redemption because it is why i love post apocalyptic books and movies the unlikely imperfect flawed hero and the redemption of humanity.

What does James Foster bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?

When I think AUD it has to be James Foster. He brings the world and the characters to life

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Absolutely

Any additional comments?

I have purchased Unhappy Endings but since things got a bit screwy migrating from audible.com to audible.com.au i can't redownload it. So i will have to purchase it again when i can.
