Publisher's summary

A Neverending Race to Survive the Worst of Nature and Mankind. This Is the Alt Apocalypse.

The Alt Apocalypse is the ground-breaking, genre-bending series from Tom Abrahams. It explores survival under the most extreme circumstances, but with a twist (and no cliff-hangers). This series, which can be listened to in any order, features the same core characters in each complete story. But every book dunks them into a new, alternate apocalypse; a nuclear holocaust, an earthquake, a flood, a wildfire, a hurricane, a plague, and even zombies.

Different heroes will emerge in each novel. Different characters will survive and perish. Your favorite character dies in one book? He or she will be back in the next. In the end, you'll unwind the loose thread that connects every character and every stand-alone story.

This collection includes all five full-length novels in the series: Ash, LIT, TORRENT, AFFLICTION, and POX.

One very unique series

I started out with this series in Kindle and I'll be honest I just didn't get it. I thought I had finally stumbled across a bad Tom Abraham's book. Then I switched over to Kindle and I started to like it and by the end I totally loved it. I have to say the magic of Kevin Pierce does certainly enhance anything. But this story is so unique that it just worked. thanks Tom, thanks Kevin

Good series!

I'd read 4 of the 5 books in the series on Kindle (and yes, I need to buy the 5th one) and really enjoyed the audiobook. Tom Abrahams can spin a good story and Kevin Pierce has become one of my favorite narrators. If you like apocalyptic tales, I absolutely recommend this collection!

My only real complaint is that chicken sausages are neither vegetarian nor vegan! But that's the only thing I recall the author getting wrong.

What a great concept

Tom Abrahams gives us 5 different scenarios with different outcomes for the same people. It all comes together in the final apocalypse. I enjoy pretty much anything that Kevin Pierce narrates. Highly recommend.

unique trust on post-apocalyptic fix expectations

Came in expecting just variations on a theme, seeing how a set of characters responded to different circumstances. Ended up loving the loose end tie ups and conclusion. Worth the listen, but definitely do so as a box set, as time gaps between each part of the storyline might just cause it to lose impact.

For those complaining that "chicken sausage isn't vegan," she isn't referring to the sausage, but the restaurant they are planning to attend for dinner ;)

IGNORE THE NEGATIVES!

I'm not sure how some people had such negative reviews. This was a great twist on the typical apocalyptic stories! Each book is it's own unique adventure but with the same characters all the way through the series. However, it's written in a way that the characters don't know what occurred in the previous book. This twist keeps it fresh for the readers.
I've read that you can listen in any order. I bought the full series pack so listened in order and feel like it flowed smoothly.
I like most of Tom Abraham's books and Kevin Pierce is a great narrator. Even if you're not a fan of these two This book is still definitely worth listening to!

Different, and better

I really enjoyed the alternate iterations, and the way they were all wrapped up in the end. It’s not like Groundhog Day, the character development spans all the books. Enjoyable and unique, I never wanted it to end. Again. And again.

Great twist on dystopian genre

This series is a great way to explore the “what ifs” of the apocalypse. Each book follows the same characters as they navigate a different world-ending catastrophe. In true Abrams’ fashion, the characters are robust, realistic, and adaptable. Readers are taken on journey after journey through a variety of iterations, with all paths connecting at the end. If you love dystopias, you’ll love this series!

An interesting and generally enjoyable series

The Alt Apocalypse series is a pretty interesting one in its idea: a cast of characters that experience different apocalypse events in each novel, and each is stand-alone in separate universes. This really appealed to me, being able to follow familiar characters and seeing them in different circumstances each time. And each one was interesting and the story was generally good, though nothing new or particularly stand-out, if I'm honest.

Abrahams notes in the synopsis that each book is designed to be stand-alone, and the series can be read in any order. This very well may have been the intention when the first couple of books were written and released, but I can't agree with that statement when it comes to all of them. The last two, particularly, need to be read in order, and after the first three. The whole premise could have worked better if either the books had been kept entirely separate, or if the over-arching thread was present from book one.

All-in-all here are some good books and easy to listen to. Kevin Pierce did a fantastic job at narrating them - I'd unlikely have pushed through to the end of the series as quickly as I did if it wasn't for his narration.

Boring

Maybe I’m being harsh, however I think the stories would be better made longer. This would allow for more depth, description etc, I’m not a writer, therefore maybe I’m harsh! Try and see what you think????

Surprisingly addictive

Listened to all 5 books continuously through the holiday break. The twists and turns and clever déjà-vu ‘repeats’ caught me by surprise in the fifth book when it all came together. The Different apocalypse scenarios kept me hanging on. When one finishes, boom, another immediately starts.
