Publisher's summary

Sold into slavery by her father and forsaken by the man she was supposed to marry, young Egyptian Kiya must serve a mistress who takes pleasure in her humiliation. When terrifying plagues strike Egypt, Kiya is in the middle of it all.

Choosing to flee with the Hebrews, Kiya finds herself reliant on a strange God and drawn to a man who despises her people. With everything she's ever known swept away, and now facing the trials of the desert, will she turn back toward Egypt or surrender her life and her future to Yahweh?

It had potential but fell a little flat

*Spoiler!*
The writer took liberties about how God parted the water. She also had the main female & male lead make a decision to marry before the female character cleansed her house of pagan idols which would not have happened. There were a few other areas not true to the Bible. One is when God spoke to the multitude around Mt. Sinai. There are no counts of miraculous healing when God spoke then. She also failed to mention that the people were in fear of God’s voice and begged not to hear it again.
When writing about a fictional character surrounded by true instances in the Bible you must be careful not to add or take away to it.

great story horriable narrator

I loved this story it is the only reason I kept listening, the narrator had a good voice but she read the book like she was in an English speaking class. Every word pronounced so precisely that there was almost know emotion to it but only correct and precise speaking. It was really distracting and took a lot away from the characters.

Couldn’t endure it...

The narrator has the most annoying voice. She speaks in a way that I find most annoying in a narrator-she has a whispery voice-as if she is reading a bedtime story-and she pronounces as many syllables as possible in every word. I enjoy Christian fiction and I understand the author’s goal of possibly educating readers who might not be familiar with scripture, but I find it tedious to listen to background stories that don’t really further the plot. I gave up after a little over an hour-I tried to get used to her voice but I found myself clenching my teeth after a few minutes every time I attempted to listen. I won’t be listening to the other books in this series.

Enjoyed this Audiobook

Counted with the Stars painted an exquisite picture of the might and faithfulness of the Lord God who created the Earth and heavens. The story of Exodus came to life through the eyes of an Egyptian girl sold into slavery by her father to pay his debts, and her Redemption by her true Father from above. Great story!

Not Accurate to Scripture

It was an interesting point of view, and the reading wasn’t bad at all. I got into the story. But when the Biblical inaccuracies kept pouring in, it lost major appeal. I will never want to listen to it again, and wish I could return it.

God’s Love

You are drawn into Kiya’s world feeling her pain and her love. The story was a mixture of a romantic story and the Bible.

Inaccurate biblical portrait

Lack of biblical accuracy in the portrayal of biblical accounts. The parting of the red sea. 😞😓😩
