Publisher's summary

Wife to a gambler who took one too many risks, Rahab finds herself sold as a slave to cover her husband's debt. Forced into prostitution, she despairs of ever regaining her freedom and her self-respect. But when Israelite spies enter Jericho and come to lodge at her house, Rahab sees a glimmer of hope and the opportunity of a lifetime. In one risky moment, she takes a leap of faith, puts her trust in a God she does not know, and vows to protect the spies from the authorities.

When the armies of Israel arrive weeks later, Rahab hopes they will keep their promise, but she has no idea what kind of challenges await her outside Jericho's walls - or if she will ever know the meaning of love.

Under Jill Eileen Smith's talented hand, the familiar story of Rahab bursts forth in high definition. Immerse yourself in a world of dark and dusty streets, clandestine meetings, and daring escapes as a mysterious biblical figure claims her full humanity - and a permanent place in your heart.

Good book, inexperienced narrator

Ms. Smith wrote a very good piece of Christian fiction. The story was so interesting, and she included a lot of cultural things that were really great to learn. My only complaint is the narrator, She didn't change voices or lower her voice for the men. It was confusing sometimes to figure out who was talking. Flexibility in her vocal range would have really given this book a more exciting edge. She used very little emotion when people were dying. Too bad, because that really detracted from a very good book. I'm an audio book narrator who is an actor so I listen to the narrators very closely. It was well edited, so the production was good.
Otherwise, if you can get past a narrator that needs some acting skills, you'll like it if this genre is something you are interested in.

Truly forgiven

I hated hearing all the hardships Rahab went through and how she suffered so much. But I loved how God redeemed her, forgave her and blessed her. I have experienced his love that way and it makes me love him even more. Thank you for this book.

Inspiring

The Crimson Cord is a story that illustrates the love and mercy of Adoni, brought to life in this story of Rahab, a forgiven child of God blessed to become a part of our Lord's lineage. Listening to this story drew me to read the book of Joshua and reminded be of how much our God loves and is willing to to forgive and restore us.

Rahab really came to life!

The author did a wonderful job developing the characters and giving us an in depth look at what life may have been like then. Her focus on the internal struggles of each individual really immerses the reader in the story and gives a view from all sides. The narration was a major disappointment. It lacked emotion and natural flow, and is the only thing that prevented a five star rating.

bad narrator

it was difficult to rlget into because the narrator sounded like a robot. she did not change her voice or add feelings to the wording. the story line was pretty good and I loved the last several chapters. true comparison of God love, forgiveness and mercy.

Excellent Story!

Ms. Smith was able to weave a wonderful, full and rewarding story out of the Bible's limited details about Rahab. The story held my interest all the way to the end! Callie Beaulieu did a wonderful job of bringing the characters to life. I highly recommend this book and I'm off to download book 2 - The Prophetess!

The Book is Very Good, Not the Performance

I like this author a lot. I wish she would have used a different narrator. The narrator sounded like a robot. It made it hard to listen to. The story is very good. So it was disappointing to have the narration so bad.

An enjoyable story. Narrator was a bit robotic in voice, but the story enjoyable nonetheless.

Inspiring

This story of Rahab is moving, interesting and inspiring. I have been so blest to listen to this story and realise again how great the forgiveness and restoration of our God is when we repent and seek Him and desire to please Him. Thank you Jill Eileen Smith.

Absolutely wonderful…

What a beautiful story. I have often wondered about Rahab’s story beyond what we read in the Bible about her great faith and her helping the spies escape. It’s a fine line to walk writing ✍️ novels based on the Bible, Not wanting to write too much or guessing too little. I truely believe that Jill Eileen Smith has got it right and that God has guided her when writing ✍️ this story. Amen!

I really enjoyed this story. However, I found the narrator a bit robotic. Worth the download.
