Publisher's Summary

Wife to a gambler who took one too many risks, Rahab finds herself sold as a slave to cover her husband's debt. Forced into prostitution, she despairs of ever regaining her freedom and her self-respect. But when Israelite spies enter Jericho and come to lodge at her house, Rahab sees a glimmer of hope and the opportunity of a lifetime. In one risky moment, she takes a leap of faith, puts her trust in a God she does not know, and vows to protect the spies from the authorities.

When the armies of Israel arrive weeks later, Rahab hopes they will keep their promise, but she has no idea what kind of challenges await her outside Jericho's walls - or if she will ever know the meaning of love.

Under Jill Eileen Smith's talented hand, the familiar story of Rahab bursts forth in high definition. Immerse yourself in a world of dark and dusty streets, clandestine meetings, and daring escapes as a mysterious biblical figure claims her full humanity - and a permanent place in your heart.

Truly forgiven

I hated hearing all the hardships Rahab went through and how she suffered so much. But I loved how God redeemed her, forgave her and blessed her. I have experienced his love that way and it makes me love him even more. Thank you for this book.

Inspiring

The Crimson Cord is a story that illustrates the love and mercy of Adoni, brought to life in this story of Rahab, a forgiven child of God blessed to become a part of our Lord's lineage. Listening to this story drew me to read the book of Joshua and reminded be of how much our God loves and is willing to to forgive and restore us.

Rahab really came to life!

The author did a wonderful job developing the characters and giving us an in depth look at what life may have been like then. Her focus on the internal struggles of each individual really immerses the reader in the story and gives a view from all sides. The narration was a major disappointment. It lacked emotion and natural flow, and is the only thing that prevented a five star rating.

I have a new favorite author!

I loved this book and can't wait to everything that Ms. Smith has to offer. I have always loved the story of Rahab, and the writer really brings her to life.

Excellent Story!

Ms. Smith was able to weave a wonderful, full and rewarding story out of the Bible's limited details about Rahab. The story held my interest all the way to the end! Callie Beaulieu did a wonderful job of bringing the characters to life. I highly recommend this book and I'm off to download book 2 - The Prophetess!

A new perspective of an often told story.

Students of the Bible will find the author wove in the parable of the unforgiving servant found in Matthew 18:21-35. Parts of this story were a refreshing take on redemption, cleansing, and purification as a gift. I did enjoy the book as a light read of a very familiar bible story.

A discouraging good read

Bare with me on the title I give this review. I was searching for strength and guidance when I downloaded this book. I was hoping to find this by studying our Christian heroines. This novel was more graphic and worldly fictionalized than I had believed. It was difficult to continue because I was seeking a break from mainstream. The second and third parts however were more woven with biblical philosophy and truths. I am glad I decided to complete it. The novel has given me reason to pause and reflect on my own struggles and chosen pathways.

More than just a romance.

Yes there is some romance in this book. I think more than Rahab and Salmon's romance I loved her discovery of God's grace and love for all of us.

Wonderfully written

I enjoyed this book from beginning to end. Rahab’s story shows the powerful redeeming ability of God. We are never beyond God’s forgiveness.

The author did an amazing job showing each phase of Rahab’s journey through life. We all can learn from this story.

Fantastic story

I really enjoyed this story. However, I found the narrator a bit robotic. Worth the download.
