Publisher's summary

Available for the first time as an audiobook in this original Outlander novella, Diana Gabaldon reveals what really happened to Roger MacKenzie Wakefield’s parents. Orphaned during World War II, Roger believed that his mother died during the London Blitz, and that his father, an RAF pilot, was killed in combat. But in An Echo in the Bone, Roger discovers that this may not be the whole story. Now, in "A Leaf on the Wind of All Hallows," readers finally learn the truth.

An Intriguing Chapter in an Amazing Series!

The Outlander series has captured my attention like no other. It is intriguing, engaging, and well written. It is so easy to let go and see characters play out their stories in my mind. Robert Ian MacKenzie has leapt off the pages of the book to narrate this tale.. His insightful interpretations of the characters leads to an immersive listening experience. I enjoyed hearing the story about Jerry McKenzie. I hope there are more back stories to the Outlander series.

Wish it was longer!

I wanted to know the story of what happened to Roger's parents, and did find some satisfaction in listening to this work. It did seem to go too fast, though, and left me wanting more development of story and characters, as I am accustomed to in the other (eight) main books of the Outlander series. I
am waiting and hoping for more!

Closure for Roger's father

I enjoyed this short story. It brought most of the closure needed to the story of Roger's father Jeremiah Mackenzie. I would like to know if Roger ever learns in the future what happened to his father. But at least we as the readers get to know. After I finished an echo in the bone, I had commented to one of my friends that I felt the story around Jeremiah was left unfinished and wanted more. This solved that problem.

Oh! Roger’s dad!

Short and sweet. I love how this book fills in a few blanks about Rogers’s mom and dad. Every time I read a book from Diana Gabaldon I ache for more.

Such bittersweetness!

Although the ending is bittersweet, it was a great ending to what was believed to be a sad story regarding Roger's parents.
