Publisher's summary

“I can promise you this. As long as you want me around, I’ll be here to remind you what a beautiful and amazing person you are.”

Being a survivor of abuse, a single mom, and not fitting into society's version of attractive, I never thought I would hear those words, especially from someone who was my nemesis on my plant enthusiast message board. So when Jack Kettler, a man much older than I, took notice of me and treated me in a way I had only seen on tv, I couldn’t help but want to open myself up, just one more time.

Two weeks–that’s what we agreed to. I would fly across the country to be with Jack for two weeks to see if what we were feeling over the phone was more than just a crush. So what I got when I walked through the small Kentucky airport was not what I expected.

One dark secret after another made me question who Jack was, what I was getting myself into, and if what I was feeling in my heart was strong enough to survive what I would have to sacrifice for us to be together.

ahhhhmaaaazing!

absolutely loved this, PJ and Paige did an amazing job narrating this and DJ awesome storyline if you haven't listened to or read this book you need to ASAP, the narrator's worked very well together and I'm glad that there was a male narrator for male characters and female for female characters, way 2 go y'all did a wonderful job with this, it had some spice not too heavy but just heavy enough, long distance, finding family, age gap, just well thought out and written it was worth it binged this in a day🥰🥰🥰

Great Duet Style Audio Book

This book was one of my top & favorite reads of 2022. I was excited to start the audio book. The audio book delivered. The narrators brought Rory and Jack to life. The emotions that both Rory & Jack felt during the story were performed so well by the narrators. I highly recommend this audio book. I now have two more narrators that I will seek out other books that they narrate.

Absolutely beautiful

Loved this! Author DJ Krimmer is an amazing storyteller and to hear it narrated truly brought it to life. Paige and PJs performance was top notch. If you want a romance this is for you. I live how Krimmer makes her characters real and perfectly imperfect.

Great Story

Single Mom/ Single Dad/ Small-town/ Age-Gap/ Grumpy Sunshine/ Second Chance

Check your trigger warnings

Aurora (Rory) is a single Mom who owns an exotic plant shop and is overcoming a very abusive relationship. Rory is also mostly deaf and has helerochromia I loved that representation. Jack is a single Dad who is struggling to make it with a very checkered past. When a break-in happens at her shop she makes a post on her online group about plants and her and Jack start talking. Eventually she and Jack meet and they hit a very bumpy road working out their relationship. I loved how real this story felt and the narrators brought the characters to life. These two got a second chance at starting their lives over and get their HEA.

Loved this book!

The narrators were PERFECT. I loved the man’s deep sensual voice, and he had a great accent during the characters speaking lines. I’ve listened to a few of the woman’s narrations, and she did great here too.

Aurora is a gorgeous late twenties woman who has been through terrible DV from her ex who left her high and dry once he found out she was pregnant. She’s been struggling to be successful with her exotic plant shop, and she now lives with her brother and her 5 year old daughter in California. She actively posts on social media pictures of her and her plants at her shop, and there’s one person who always has some snide remark to try and get under her skin.

Jack lives in Kentucky and is in his late 40s and works labor jobs to barely scrape by to provide for his 16 year old daughter. His ex wife got into drugs really bad and he was luckily able to get full custody of their daughter. In his free time he likes to taunt a woman who is way out of his league on her exotic plant social media page. While he enjoys teasing her under a fake identity, he doesn’t hesitate to reach out to her and offer support when something goes wrong at her shop.

Surprisingly, Aurora and Jack hit things off rather quickly and they get to talking and video chatting just about every day. It’s especially hard for her to open up to him given her dark past, and she also takes note that he might have a dark past that he’s not mentioned. But as they get closer, Rory starts to save up the money to fly out and visit him as a two week trial to see if there’s any real spark.

Overall, I thought this was a good read. For me nothing seemed too especially dark, but I might just have a tolerance to it. There was a bit too much back and forth with FMC and MC that happened too close together and it annoyed me a little bit, but other than that the plot worked very well. I loved how the FMC isn’t the typical woman you normally see in dark romance novels.
