Publisher's summary

Karol Charles does not have time for ghosts. It’s Christmas Eve and she’s at the office. Sure, her kids thought she’d be making cookies with them back at home, but this is important. This is what it means to “have it all.” Then, a familiar cough from the adjacent room jolts her out of her work. It can’t be possible. Marley is dead. She has been for years.

With Marley’s death, Karol is now running their law firm by herself. But she still strives to live by her best friend and law partner’s creed: The job makes the money and the money buys the things that make your family happy. Working all the time is a sacrifice Karol has made willingly.

However, Karol’s life takes a drastic turn when she falls outside of Rockefeller Center and has to be hospitalized. But something is wrong with this hospital. There’s a ghost in the waiting room and another magical visitor in the lobby. With them, Karol revisits long-forgotten memories and begins to unravel the truth about her current situation—and a future that is anything but cheery and bright.

In this modern twist on Dickens’s A Christmas Carol, Karol’s journey through her past, present, and future reveals a difficult yet liberating truth: It is far better to have what matters than to have it all.

Charming

A creative and engaging take on the old Scrooge story. Ms. Moore has created and developed characters with whom we can relate and care about. It makes for a very pleasant, but meaningful, Christmas story. Very well done.

Refreshing take on an old classic

It’s a refreshing take on an old classic. I love that it celebrates motherhood instead of this ‘feminist’ idea that women have to want to be ‘girl bosses’ to have any value. I recently became a mother and have a new-found respect for mother’s everywhere! It is one of the most challenging and rewarding jobs ever and shame on anyone who makes a woman feel like being ‘just a mom’ is not enough. Thank you moms for all you are and all you do.

Great book, brought tears to my eyes

What a wonderful book expertly written! As a man, I was afraid this book wouldn’t be geared to be and was written exclusively for women. But I found that Karol—a lawyer who works very hard—was so relatable. In a lawyer, worked very hard to get through law school and found myself making some of the same promises to my family that Karol made… Faith Moore is a very talented writer, who writes books in her own creative style and is not someone writing in the footsteps of her father (another amazing writer) not at all, her father is one of the greatest writers of the modern age but I would argue that Faith Moore is one of the greatest writers of a different genre. Give her a read…. You won’t be disappointed

Faith beautifully tweaks a classic

You will fall in love with the characters and feel their pain and joy throughout the tale. Having read Dickens Carol this is a refreshing take on the classic brought into the modern world. If you’re looking for a new Christmas classic look no further.

Great messages and morals for you entering the Christmas season.
