Deep and exactly whats needed

Klavan reaches deep into our mind and beliefs to help us connect with our soul. He explains things in ways that seem correct, but i had just forgotten.

He has pulled together 5 Crisis that our society is definitely speeding towards. Our history tells us we've been here before. In those crisis others learned from reading but may not have paid attention. We must pay attention to those past writings again.

This book does not prove there is a God, but it tells us that what is real is more then just matter and cells. We humans have a soul and this book (along with the great minds from our past) explain how and why that is.

This book may be the only book i have ever finished and immediately turned to the first page and started again....

Amazing work

I love Spencer! Young Heretics is great and this is like an injection of concentrated Klavan into my brain. Thank you for the outlook. Maybe it was my headphones, but the audio was a tiny bit scratchy whenever I unpaused. Not a problem. I hope everyone goes forth to seek the True, the Good, and the Beautiful!

The author tied all the miscellaneous points in Ancient history together and related them to the present. Thought provoking and accessible.

I was interested in this book from the moment I heard the author describe it. The use of multiple sources of history, science, philosophy, and literature make it a great reading list as well as a great book.

Incredible depth with approachable clarity

Wow, I expected to enjoy this book but it truly blew me away. I loved how Klavan takes the wisdom of the ancients and applies it to our current circumstances. Profoundly deep without being overwhelming. Thought-provoking and inspiring all at once.

Brilliant, Entertaining, and Necessary Read

Klavan takes the time to explain the importance of the history of the West in a compelling way. The "old thinkers" are made relevant and palatable for the 21st century reader. Whether you're a history buff or not, this book meets the reader where you're at and gives you the tools to understand what's at stake today. More importantly, it gently guides you to ask the big questions of yourself and what you believe. Great book. Worth it.

This is a must read…. Simple and well done work of genius.

It would be a understatement and less truthful review without the making the case for this book to be read by everyone who wishes the best for whom the confess to care about…..

Western Civilization 101

If you slept through your college course than this is a must read. Dr. Klavan writes in an easy to read and understand format as he reviews the writings of the ancient philosophers. This is not a dusty, dry, old history. He shows that there is nothing new under the sun and we've seen the current level of debauchery many times. He shows how humanity picked itself out of the mire, cleaned itself off and started all over again. This is a very positive and hopeful book that everyone should read. He gives advice that is so simple to follow to restore our beloved Republic. Put down your device, go outside and say hello to your neighbor. Go to your county council meetings. I got through this in one weekend because it is fascinating. I'll be buying the hard cover now so I can read it again and take notes. I love this book. Thank you Dr. Klavan for writing it.

Phenomenal work!

This is a phenomenal work of incredible insight and more wisdom than a man Spencer’s age should possess. He is truly a scholar of history and an astute observer of the present. As such, he can see the parallels between our modern day crises and the crises faced by our forefathers. He seamlessly blends the two together and pulls out of the mix an inventory of time tested and timeless solutions that we can, nay, must, cling to in order to save our beloved West. Do not miss this book! Klavan is a superb writer and an even better scholar. Very well done. This is the type of work you can reread 10 times and mine out nuggets of wisdom each time.

That voice!

I would purchase any book that Spencer read! Rather than ‘the end’ I feel like ‘rest in peace’ could be the closing. America is going down. Let’s just enjoy every minute that we have and then rest in peace.
