Enjoyed every minute

Couldn’t stop listening . The presentation was great. The story was brilliant. Hope to read more Kristin Hannah stories

Disappointed

The narrator made this book fall flat. Also, anyone who is trauma informed would cringe qt the psychiatrists’ treatment of this child! It was so hard to get into this book because it was so unrealistic. Narrators make or break an audible book. This narrator was a poor choice here.

Intriguing Storyline

I appreciated the compelling storylines of the main characters of the book. The author brought to life the perspectives of the “wild girl” as she moved through experiences of integrating a vastly foreign culture, the pain of a treatment provider in the throes of legal proceedings after a devastating client outcome, and small town life in the Pacific Northwest.

Narration of the main character was poorly matched re:age and overdone in both writing and narration re: rigidity of personality. Over control by the character would have been more interesting with more complex subtleties and a less stilted and aged voice. The psychological analysis of characters is a difficult point for me as a psychologist, as it seems sometimes distractingly simplistic and decreases my enjoyment of the book. But this might be an unfair expectation.

Generally an entertaining distraction of a read.

Interesting relationships

The development of Alice was interesting as was the relationships of siblings and finding themselves. Some twists in the story kept me wanting to hear more.

Best story ever

This is by far one of my all time favorite books ever read/heard. I loved the beautiful voice of the narrator! She captured the emotions perfectly and I felt them as if it was occurring in my own life. What a beautiful way to capture my heart through a novel. Don't miss this read.
