Publisher's Summary

You live in your dream house, but there's no mortgage. No alarm clock, no boss, no bills. No claims on the day's time other than what you choose. It is making more money before breakfast than you made for an entire week at your last job. It is a crazy expensive car parked in your garage, a victorious symbol that your dreams no longer sleep in fantasies, but are awake with reality.

Make no mistake, this life exists. I know, because it has been mine for nearly 20 years. And in a few short years, it can be yours as well. Better, you won't need five tedious decades of thankless jobs, buzz killing frugality, and patient investing with our trusted friends on Wall Street.

Unfortunately, you have been scripted to believe that such a life is out of your reach, or only possible for a certain type of person. Someone with a certain college degree, a certain amount of VC funding, or a certain contact list of connected friends from Stanford. I am here to tell you, that none of it is true.

While I have been entrepreneur most of my life, I am no one special. You won't read about me over at Tech Crunch or in some Silicon Valley newsletter. While I have been an Internet entrepreneur since the old "you've got mail" AOL days, I have never been funded by venture capitalists, I have never had a payroll with more than five people on it, and I have never studied computer science at school.

Despite this, I am able to create profitable businesses that create the type of unscripted life described above.

Making money, yeah. Cut the rant though.

Is there anything you would change about this book?

Absolutely. I love the author's "let's get it done" philosophy, but later on in the book it just feels like a rant. He even starts backlashing about fat-shaming. <br/>Honestly, I just want to learn about entrepreneurship. I don't need a social commentary (complete with excessive cussing).

What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?

Despite my previous comments about the book turning into a social commentary, it's well worth the purchase. <br/>I wouldn't call this a story, but the information offered in three quarters of this title makes it worth while. <br/>Like I said, however, it later turns into a social commentary (yawn).

Have you listened to any of Scott Thomas’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

No, but this voice actor is amazing. He kept me up late at night with his enthusasm -- despite the title being extremely long.

Who do you think would benefit most from listening to Unscripted?

Anyone looking to get ahead in life, or planning on opening (or wanting to improve on) their business.

Any additional comments?

Overall, the book is worth the purchase. It is well written, and narrated fantastically. <br/><br/>I just want to turn it off when I start to hear the rant about people the author doesn't believe are putting enough into life. Frankly, he sounds like a bit of a bully near the end; but that won't stop me from taking good info and using it to my advantage.

A wake up call for those wanting more out of life

MJ has done it again.
Unscripted is a prequel to The Millionaire Fastlane, in my opinion, although both books stand alone.
The book covers all the underlying things required to get the right mindset and create valuable businesses that serve and add value to the world, while allowing you to become wealthy and be untethered from a J.O.B.
Read/listen to it multiple times to allow the message to sink in.

A dense listen with some nuggets

I have a friend who loves this book and has read it three times. It took me a few weeks to get through it once on Audible. There's some good stuff in there, but I bet the book could be edited to half it's size without losing anything.

Priceless, most valuable book in startups

It's an amazing journey to listen to the book. I admire the author for not caring about being politically correct and gave his advice plain and simple.

Unscripted was Phenomenal!!!

This book by MJ DeMarco was the best book I've read by far, out of the many Entrepreneurial Books that are out there this book gets it right! It gives you the No-nonsense truth about the hard road ahead of starting entrepreneurs. But it also shows you the way, the road less traveled, the Unscripted Path!!!

Agree with most reviews this is a great one

I agree with most reviews that this book is a great one. Definately an original, but still with a lot of references to conventional facts. Thanks DeMarco!

I believe in Reality and this man knows Reality!

What did you love best about Unscripted?

No non sense, No BS, in your face Unscripted Reality! I do believe MJ DeMarco should do stand up comedy. I say this in a good way, because what MJ converses is what our current society is scripting for us all. I am in a scripted life, but there is a way out. If you are willing to fight for it! Thanks: MJ

What other book might you compare Unscripted to and why?

Millionaire Fast Lane : Same author. More of the same great knowledge for a producers lifestyle.

Have you listened to any of Scott Thomas’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I personally liked MJ DeMarco narration from the original book. I will say Scott Thomas's vocals did not dissuade the listening. He did a great job of conveying the message or information in a regal and hilarious manner.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

There is to many to note. I will be re-listening to write them all down. Impact millions, Action Taker vs Faker, producer vs consumer, plus many more.

Any additional comments?

I don't believe in being a zealot about anyone idea or thing. That said, MJ comes across in a realistic truthful way. It is packed full of knowledge, history and humor. I would say he is doing better than me and allot of other people out there. This in it's self makes it worth a listen.

Must Listen!!!

I really enjoyed The Millionaire Fastlane, and this book is a great follow up to that masterpiece. There is a fair bit of strong language, but if you can look past that it is well worth the listen. Candid, honest to a fault, and just telling it like it is. I loved the dry sarcastic overtones, they serve to emphasize how ridiculous modern economic slavery really is. Narration was well done, very professional and easy to listen to, so I'm pleased with the overall experience.

Something Missing -&gt; MJ DeMarco himself.

Another fantastic and 'hyper-realistic' book from MJ DeMarco. Having listened to the guru's of old speaking about a path towards financial freedom, the 1st in his series (Millionaires Fast Lane) was a slap in the face - and a nice hard one at that. This book continues with the same thread, only pulling apart the reasons why people pursue the sidewalk and slow lanes towards financial independence. It's a good hard kick to do something about your own life and not just settle for 'the script'.

Unscripted is a great motivator !

There was, however, something missing from this version - MJ DeMarco himself. Yes, I actually missed hearing the passion in his voice in which he spoke with in his first audio book.

An excellent and must read for anyone and everyone.

Hello, my name is Dan Quay I was septic at first, but when listening the guy metioned the fast lane which also inspired me how he made his millions and lost it, but he kept going...but this audio book helped me unravel the truth about entrepreneurship and living life on your own terms. His stories where very captivating and his voice was helping me and kept pushing me foward, which I needed...thanks for recording this, I hope you do another one in the future.

Amazing life map, but a few unhelpful biases

This booked is packed full of vital insights - a must read for anyone who wants to live a unrestricted life. There are a few sections which buck this trend, where MJ chooses to impart is biases as wisdom e.g you shouldn’t trust companies that spend money on advertising - yet he goes on to say that advertising is a great growth accelerator if you have a productocracy.

Straight to the point

What more can I say other than great advice given without any sugarcoated bullshit as found in most of this genre. The investment section towards the end nearly lost me, but overall well worth the investment.

Life changing if you let it.

Mj is a revelation and a revelatory voice of such sense that it can truly unsettle you. If like me you are feeling like the treadmill you have been diligently pounding is actually going nowhere then this reveals an alternative reality. It shows a map of this new land that is tough to navigate and follow but the destination is so enticing that it has to be worth turning off the treadmill and turn the sweat and effort to this new road.

Change nothing, and nothing will change

I loved it (bought the audiobook version). It came at a point in my life where I already had a &quot;FU&quot; moment and this was just reconfirming that indeed now is the time to act. In parts it sounded like myself ranting and it felt, well, familiar. Its not for delicate flowers, and if you don't like being faced with harsh truths I would imagine it can be uncomfortable read for some. But I can tell you now...if you want more in life and you feel like every day is just a step closer to the inevitable end then read it, its the best thing you will ever do. That sounds dramatic, but there is a difference between existing and living your life and if you need a kick up the backside then this is it. Also useful if you have children and are questioning about what kind of direction you want to help them take in life. Who wants to be 70 then look back at life and think &quot;wtf was that?&quot;

Simply the best.

There are a lot of good entrepreneur and mindset books out there, but I often only take certain parts from them (and I'm not talking about gurus like kiyosaku or robbins). This book, has no filler though. It's all indispensable. Every chapter, every word. This book will wake you up and tell you like it is. Doesn't matter if you're already on your way as an entrepreneur or just starting. It really gives you the keys to the kingdom. Now it's just up to you to drive. There's no short cut except to let you know: there's no shortcuts.. Thank you again MJ for another amazing book and stopping me from wasting years and thousands. No turning back once you are fully aware.

Another Blasting Book from Mr MJ!

It is one the best book I've listened for this year. Narrator is excellent. Spot on advice on getting out of rat race. This is like a updated version of Millionaire fast lane. Exceptionally real life examples and data research on modern day slavery. Get this book and wake up!

The Preeminent book for any entrepreneur.

Would you listen to Unscripted again? Why?

This is the best book on business I have ever read. Mj DeMarco spells out exactly what are the keys to a successful business. For people not ready to live life on their terms he has the first couple of chapters to see why you need to live UNSCRIPTED.This is not a read once and put it on the shelf book this is a key.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Unscripted?

Finding the entrepreneurial sweet spot.

If you made a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

FUCK YOU!

Any additional comments?

PEACE!
