Very slow start

I almost gave up since I had to listen to about 25 chapters before the story started to become interesting. After that it was pretty fair, although I figured some of it out and mostly hung in to see if I was right. It did have a couple of interesting twists at the end. Narration was good but otherwise not a great listen.

It was the Ending for me 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

The lead up was the entire book.. but I liked it that way? Not my usual type of read but I can say I’m a fan!

Engaging mystery with great narration

This was a fun read! Before Us is an engaging mystery that kept me hooked from start to finish. The narrators fit their characters well and really brought the story to life. The build-up was well done and the story gave just enough clues to piece things together without dragging anything out. It wasn’t one of those “aha!” moments but more of a satisfying “I knew it!” moment, like a true detective payoff. The characters were well-written and layered, which made the ending even more fun to process.

Overall, I’d definitely recommend it as a fun and engaging mystery listen, especially if you enjoy a light thriller that keeps you thinking the whole way through.

Shocked

This had some many twist and turn but sort of predictable. It was captivating and entertaining.

Stellar characterizations, brilliant narration, and emotionally jolting twists..

Through shifting perspectives and unreliable narration, readers are kept guessing from start to finish.

Twists were plentiful, impactful, unpredictable, and gasp-worthy.

This is NOT a typical "Who lived in this house before me?" book.

I dare you to guess the ending!

Both narrators gave Oscar-worthy performances.

To date, it's my favorite Jane James book.

Great story but

I really liked the story but Didn’t like the ending. It left me wanting more. Maybe a sequel?

Yes I’m absolutely in love with this plot and overall story hoping to read a sequel!!

I like that the story did not have big fake accents which are annoying. I listened all day as I just had to know what was next.

Who is telling the truth? Told in different points of view, James weaves a psychological tale that will take a darker road than expected.
