Publisher's Summary
Finally, a definitive explanation of bravery.
Bare Naked Bravery: How to Be Creatively Courageous is a deeply vulnerable and rebellious how-to memoir for people who are tired of feeling like they should be brave but don't know how courage could possibly unfold from their current fears and comfort zones. You'll finish Bare Naked Bravery empowered to confidently practice and build your own creative courage beyond your wildest imagination.
Build your bravery, one step at a time.
No one is a stranger to moments of terror and "stuff" hitting the fan. Fear will rear its ugly head no matter your background, upbringing, career path, or goals.
But how do we get brave without getting reckless? How can we encounter life with great abandon and wise courage? How do we stand for ourselves and others without having a panic attack? What does bravery even mean? How do we recreate it? Is it born or built?
Author and singer-songwriter Emily Ann Peterson asked these same questions in 2013 after a life-altering, career-halting diagnosis of a degenerative neurological disease in her right hand. As a full-time cellist, her music career was forever changed. Unbeknownst to her, it was changed for the better.
Knowing she'd have to "be brave", but not knowing what that really meant, Emily Ann got curious. Really curious. Surviving an eating disorder, starting a music career during a recession, and venturing into uncharted territory post-diagnosis are just some of her personal feats of bravery. Unveiling these stories of everyday heroism, she paints a clear and vibrant picture of what courage looks like for those who don't feel courageous. (Hint: True bravery never feels brave.)
In Bare Naked Bravery you will learn to:
- Use your fear, instead of fighting it or running from it
- Identify the three types of bravery in yourself and your surroundings
- Infuse creativity into your courageous acts for exhilarating results
- Weave the 12 ingredients of bravery into your daily life
- Ask questions that boost courage instantly
- Use Emily Ann's favorite bravery building tools

Bare Naked Bravery: How to Be Creatively Courageous is an extremely vulnerable dive into what bravery means, how it looks, and how to build it with a daily practice of expression and mindfulness.
Learn how to be confident and unshakably strong. The world is waiting for your Bare Naked Bravery.

Emily Ann’s Bare Naked Bravery
I could't wait to turn every page. I have been a huge fan of Emily Ann’s prior to her launching her Bare Naked Bravery movement and now reading her book brought everything full circle. I loved how vulnerable she was and how much I was able to relate to her personal stores, I have to say Emily Ann is an amazing story teller. What is unique about the way the book is written and what makes Emily Ann’s technique so different is she pulls her two passions together; music and writing. She takes her musical background to describe bravery and use it as her voice. I highly reckoned this book for creative people who are looking for a story they can relate to as well as use some of Emily Ann’s tools she describes in the book to break away from the norm and become brave. As you can see, I loved this book!

concrete helpful steps to get you unstuck
Great mentoring and helpful practices to get your mojo on especially when you have let it lapse for a while. I appreciated the scientific backing for the function of the brain. She dovetails through her life experiences to back up what she says to concretise steps.

Part memoir, part mindfulness, all inspiration!
I could not stop listening to this book. She starts the book by sharing her personal story, including her struggle with eating disorders and how she overcome numerous obstacles. She narrates her own book, which brings her story to life. She illustrates why we need to be brave, the types of bravery, and how to cultivate bravery in your own life. Literary lovers will appreciate the beautifully written prose, and the more pragmatic will appreciate the practical ways you can cultivate bravery in your life. If you have ever struggled with fear in your life you NEED this book. Inspiration and help to conquer fear are all in this book. Worth reading or listened to more than once!
