Poisoned by the Pool is a pretty good cozy mystery. I would give it 5 stars but the pace is slow.

Exciting Cozy Mystery

Poisoned by the Pool is Book 3 Temp Jobs Cozy Mystery Series by K B Blake. Scarlett is house sitting and taking care of the family dog, Scamp. Of course, murder was not on the agenda. One thing that I really enjoy in the series is that several of the characters are in each book with a sprinkle of new characters. Scarlett is still not able to get Austin out of her heart, and as luck would have it, his parents live in the house next to where she is sitting. Perfection! I found tons of action and a pinch of romance made this fast paced cozy do much fun. Scarlett's father still can not remember his accident, but, that is a mystery for another book.

Full of twists

I've said it before, but one of the things I love about this series is the setting. Don't get me wrong, I love the mystery, the characters, and Scamp, but having personal knowledge of the places adds a little something. This is the third book, and they should be ready in order because the overall story arc is going to keep you glued to the pages just as much as each mystery is. There are a lot of exciting things happening in Scarlett's life, and that includes house/dog sitting Scamp. We meet new friends, get more answers, discover new clues, and solve the puzzle. What more could you ask? The narration is always important in an audiobook, and Kristen Landon does a fabulous job of bringing a voice to each character. Her pacing and style are perfect and she does a great job of expressing whatever emotion is being experienced. The whole package is perfection.

Great story & series!!

I thoroughly enjoyed Poisoned by the Pool (#3 in the Temp Job Cozy Mystery Series) by KB Blake. Scarlett Chase lost her job as a decorator and has been blacklisted in her profession. Because Scarlett is helping her parents after her father’s accident, she can’t relocate. She is taking temp jobs to pay her bills. This week’s job is caring for a dog and housesitting for a wealthy family on vacation. Of course, someone dies in the pool. There are a lot of suspects with different motives, and dome twists and turns. With her great deductive reasoning, Scarlett helps Det. Stringer solve the crime.

I enjoy the recurring characters and I liked seeing Scarlett get out with her new friend Heather. Scarlett needed something good to happen in her life. I love the way there is the major story and several overarching storylines that evolve over the course of the series. I’m very glad several have happily resolved (no spoilers from me!) and I look forward to the next book(s) to learn more about her father’s accident.

The narration by Amber Battaglia is wonderful. Her performance brings the characters and story to life. I highly recommend this book and series to anyone who likes a humorous cozy mystery.

Temp Jobs Can Be Murder!

Poisoned By The Pool is the 3rd book in the Temp Jobs Can Be Murder cozy mystery series and it is one of my favorites! These books keep getting better and better and this one is awesome! Scarlett Chase is currently working temp jobs until something that interests her comes along. In this book she is house-sitting at a really nice house with a pool and a cute dog. It is a great job until a neighbor ends up dead in the pool. Scarlett is a wonderful character with common sense, intelligence and of course curiosity. Several people are keeping secrets and Scarlett is piecing parts of the murder together which causes some trouble. On top of that, her father was in a hit and run accident and Scarlett is helping him get evidence against the guilty party. Scarlett runs into her former crush Austin Howard which really adds to the story and she is becoming friends with Hannah who is a fun new character. I loved everything about Poisoned By The Pool! The characters are well done and interesting. The cozy mystery was intriguing and kept me guessing. The ending was awesome with just the right amount of “cozy”. I asked for and received the audiobook from Author K.B. Blake. Narrator Amber Battaglia did an awesome job with the voices! With so many female voices it can be difficult but she made each seem unique and the story was very enjoyable. I can’t wait for the next book I received an audiobook for free and I am voluntarily leaving this review #PoisonedByThePool #TempJobsCanBeMurder
