Publisher's summary

With the help of her rescue cat, Eddie, librarian Minnie Hamilton is driving a bookmobile based in the resort town of Chilson, Michigan. But she'd better keep both hands on the wheel, because it's going to be a bumpy ride....

Eddie followed Minnie home one day, and now she can't seem to shake the furry little shadow. But in spite of her efforts to contain her new pal, the tabby sneaks out and trails her all the way to the bookmobile on its maiden voyage. Before she knows it, her slinky stowaway becomes her cat co-pilot! Minnie and Eddie's first day visiting readers around the county seems to pass without trouble - until Eddie darts outside at the last stop and leads her to the body of a local man who's reached his final chapter.

Initially, Minnie is ready to let the police handle this case, but Eddie seems to smell a rat. Together, they'll work to find the killer - because a good librarian always knows when justice is overdue.

Well worth the wait.

I spotted this book some time back on the pre order list. As soon as I could today I downloaded it. I have always had a fascination with bookmobiles so finding a book series with them in audio format was a real treat
I was expecting a simple cozy but discovered a nice complex story. This one had a surprise ending for me. About mid book I thought I had the killer identified. The last chapter was a big shocker for me when the killer was revealed. What a treat.
A big bonus for me was the cat. Unless you have had a cat decide to move in and adopt you it is hard to believe the things a cat will do. Eddy reminded me of our Kitty Tom. The cat would ring the door bell to be let in and throw up at the sight of a mouse.
I can't wait for the next big adventure in this series.

Doesn't Do Michigan Properly

The story is okay. My biggest problem is that it takes place in Northwestern Michigan. However, there is a real Chilson Michigan just north of Ann Arbor. Also, the author uses the word "soda". No one in Michigan uses the word soda, it's POP. And, the narrator's pronunciation of Mackinac Island! UGGH!!! Yes, it is spelled M-A-C-K-I-N-A-C but it is pronounced Mackinaw. Everyone from Michigan knows this!

Loved this book!

This is one of the best new books I’ve read in a long time. Quietly humorous, very well read (great job on the cat) and a good story. Very good cozy mystery!

A Charming Cozy with Likable Characters

I have read all the Bookmobile Cat Mysteries and am thrilled that they are now available on Audible! It’s wonderful when the narrator’s voice matches the one that as a reader, you have heard in your head. I enjoy listening to books I have already read and will be downloading the rest of the series as it becomes available . The characters are likable, the setting charming and the mysteries intriguing. As for Eddie, he is so well written that anyone who has interacted with a cat will recognize his behavior. He is adorable and Minnie the librarian is very clever and funny. I look forward to spending more time with both of them!

Mrrr Mrrr Mrrr Misfit

I like cats--I had 13 once on a country spot. But this book is wackadoodle. All this cat ever says is "Mrrr" -- my cats never Mrrred. And then there is all the grinning. "He grinned. She grinned." All anyone in this book does is grin, except for the last chapter where someone finally did a smile. There was so many unnecessary adjectives and adverbs--it appeared to our book club it was just to make the book longer. Then the author doesn't follow through and seems to forget the original lead-in statements. For example, the detective arriving on the scene is such a #10, and goodie, we are going to have a further encounter with this hunk, and then you don't hear from him until the last chapter, and there is no more spark. It doesn't even say that there is no more spark. It is just dropped. Huh??? Then our heroine has to check, & keep checking on issues, with her mother on the moral compass of a man sitting outside a restaurant using their Wi-Fi. Oh golly, is that morally right? And yet our Heroine lies all the time--I mean ALL the time. Then I have never heard so many made up last and first names in my life that are so far from reality. For example, there is the assistant "Thessie" (as in Thespian) --no parent in their right mind would name a child this unless they had a lisp themselves. Our large book club (who are positive people) gave it a rating for 2.5 to a 5.5 out of ten. I give it a 2, and I'm a very positive person. I did like the date which was fun and humorous, and the narrator was excellent. And it was good and clean. My 97 year old mom will like this.

Mystery plus a cat. Good likable characters.

One of those stories you hate to interrupt. Prepare for driveway moments. Looking forward to finding out Eddies history.

Disappointing

Great story idea but not well developed. Main character’s relationship with other characters doesn’t evolve logically. It feels as though important plot steps are missing. I don’t anticipate reading the next book in the series.

Great little mystery

Laurie Cass has written a great little mystery for the first installment in a new series. The characters are well developed and instantly become long lost friends.

Horrible

There was more talk about Eddie the cat than the actual mystery. I got tired of hearing about the cat. But the last straw was the aunt who only took in guest in order to play matchmaker. I couldn't finish it.

A Nice Read

The book was entertaining but the plot was light . The narrator was great, she spoke clearly and at a good cadence.
