Publisher's summary

In a world where the rules are gray and the Don's word is a law unto itself, only one thing is sacred…family.

A Team A.L.P.H.A. and Alphabits spin-off series

Boris Novak watched four of his brothers find happiness with their fated mates, but never considered he might be that lucky. When a family member dragged in a fainting goat shifter suspected of working with their enemies, it took only one scent for Boris to recognize his mate and know that he’d fight anyone and anything to protect him.

Even if it meant fighting his own family.

One year ago, Gary never would have imagined being caught up in such a mess of crime bosses, turf wars, and smuggling. He’d never imagined anything beyond a quiet life. Until that life was stolen from him.

Together, the two find a wholeness that neither looked for, but deeply craved. But before they can find peace, they have to defeat the woman who killed Gary’s family and tried to kill Boris’s father. All while keeping Chicago from erupting into a street war, saving kidnapped kids, and avoiding the eye of the Feds.

This is the fourth book in this mpreg mafia series. Get ready for a world ruled by the Don’s iron fist, a fainting goat who is stronger than his instincts, and a family that stands together…no matter what. You can expect to find naughty, knotty scenes of steamy passion, along with a lot of potty-mouth language and more violence than you’re used to from us. But at its heart, you’ll still find all the fluffy mpreg feels and crazy antics you’d look for from Susi Hawke and Crista Crown.

This series is so cute

I love this series. It's not too heavy. There is a tiny bit of reference to violence but it's pretty light-hearted. Each book features an insta-love fated mate couple with a HEA and mPreg. Very good comfort food for the brain. My favorite part of each story and this is a ***spoiler***

My favorite part is the Novak blessings given to each newborn.

Mr Graves does a great job with the narration. The team of Susi Hawke and Crista Crown are great writers of this genre and I love all their books. This series is no exception. I have already read the other books in this series but can't wait for them to get on audiobook because they are also great listens.

Fainting goats aren’t all that bad

I will admit I did not think I was going to like the fainting goat angle. Because I could see all the issues with that, especially for a mafia family. But i liked Gary and his brothers, and I ADORED the O’Malley clan so much! As usual Kirt did an amazing job. Love his voice for this series.

Narrator did a good job except . . .

I liked the series and have read all of them. The Novak books seem shorter to me and not as rich in the story telling or world building. The authors use a lot of ethnic & mob stereotypes to drive the characters.

The narrator does a pretty good job, except for some of the accents and name pronunciation. Seamus is not pronounced. See’-mus. I cringed every time he said it. Also, why does the oldest Novak brother Cyrus have a mild Chicago-ish accent and all of the brothers and father have a heavy Russian accent.
