Publisher's Summary

The Northern Pines Den series is an mpreg shifter series about found families, finding joy after pain, and the yummy scents of fated mates!

The Northern Pines Den of bears found a solid ally in the newly formed Northern Lodge wolf pack, and together they face a foe as fierce as she is evil: the den Alpha’s estranged sister.

Through their connection with the wolves, the den finds mates who breathe new life into their traditional ways. Though opening their hearts leaves them easy targets for their enemies, the den will do whatever it takes to protect their own.

This three audiobook bundle contains the first three books in this best-selling series and is guaranteed to give a serious case of the feels!

Included:

Alpha’s Hearts - Fated Mates! When the wolf pack and the bear den initiate an exchange program to help shifters find their fated mates, adventurous omega Taylor is the first to volunteer, drawing the attention of the den’s lonely alpha, Mikael. Mikael knows the tiny, colorful omega will either breathe new life into their stilted bear community or cause an outrage. Either way, it won't be boring to have him around.

Alpha’s Mates - When the former soldier, alpha jaguar Jules, scents the kidnapped omega bear Colin, he will do anything to save his mate. Thankfully, protective, alpha wolf Sean witnessed the kidnapping, and he is equally as determined to bring Colin home. When the two scent each other in their quest to save Colin, they realize they were not blessed with just one mate, but two...if they can manage to save Colin in time.

Alpha’s Strength - Omega jaguar Diego is fleeing an arranged marriage to the safety of his cousin Jules' new home, not realizing he is running straight into the arms of fate. Alpha heir to the den, Stefan, loves everything about the little, bratty looking omega, even the arrogant glare he levels at Stefan when he catches the alpha eyeballing him. Yet the rogue war rages on, and none of their lives remain untouched by its shadow.

These audiobooks are all intended for 18+ readers only. It's advised to listen the series in order for maximum appreciation. And yes, this bundle contains mpreg, knotting, adults adulting in sexy, naughty ways, and way more than the occasional use of potty mouth language!

Caution: contains violent scenes and mentions of death as the pack is at war.

Great bundle

I loved this.

Book 1, We meet Mik an Alpha Bear and Taylor his omega wolf. The wolf and bear communities have decided to do an exchange to give their people a chance to meet their fated mates. Taylor is sent to the bear den where he meets the den Alpha. Many hijinks come about and we are thrown into a war. I found that the voices for each of the characters work and I enjoyed listening to their story.

Book 2, We are introduced to Jules, Sean & Colin. Jules is an Alpha jaguar that is helping the bears with the war. Sean is Taylor's older Alpha brother and Colin is an Omega bear. This story starts with a kidnapping and rescue. During the rescue each men catch each others scents and navigate their new relationship. This book was a little distracting to listen to. The voice for Jules didn't speak to me so I found him harder to connect to.

Book 3, focuses on Stefan and Diego. Diego has just arrived from Belize. He ran away from home and is seeking shelter with his cousin Jules. The war between the bears and rogue wolves is still raging and is getting worse. Like with Jules, I found Diego's voice didn't work for me. It didn't sound like how I pictured it to sound. It wasnt bad but I didn't connect with the character.

All in all, this was a great listen. I'm looking forward to the next bundle to see if the character voices match how I picture them.

Thoroughly enjoyable...

This book includes the first three stories of the Northern Pines Den series. The first, Alpha Hearts introduced us to the premise of an exchange involving bear and wolf shifters to aid in the 'true mate' quest. Meeting Taylor persuaded me to see where this story traveled. I'm glad that it did. I enjoyed the antics of Taylor and the influence that he had on his mate, bear Alpha Mikael. Taylor and Mik's story was the best of the three (in my opinion). The next story, Alpha's Mates, between Jules, Sean, and Colin was interesting and though I liked the build up, the ending was a bit anticlimactic, which one would question with three fated mates and then 3 cubs in the end. What I did like about this story was that though Colin is a omega, he was equal in everyway. Of course this can be said with all three stories which involves strong omega's. Typical stories find the omega's needing rescue and not really having a sense of self; however, the approach taken by Susi Hawke was to show that just because this particular type of shifter gives birth, doesn't mean that they are weak minded, weak spirited, and weak physically...a perfect representation of the real world with the "Me Too" movement. The final story, Alpha's Strength, with Diego and Stefan, continues representing that the omega is more than what most shifter stories imply. I think that is why I enjoyed this series as much as I did.

it's okay

I listened to it because I bought it. honestly, this book has no character growth, very boring settings and story plot. All three books where trying to be different from one another except, they all had the same thing. Beginning Same, middle " climax" , end all the same . the world building was not creative at all.

Enjoyable

This was a nice bundle of inter-connected stories, and I found it to be a fun read. Other than the crazy alpha female making life difficult for the Northern Pines Den, the stories are primarily lighthearted and are full of sex between fated mates.
My favorite character throughout the stories was Stefan, and he was the one best portrayed by the narrator, in my opinion. The voice portrayal of Jules, on the other hand, made me want to speed up the playback. I did love how the bear shifters all had a similar, almost laid back sound to their voices.
I felt like some things, such as the death of Colin's parents, could have been a good time to show more of the omega's grief and emotions, but I still enjoyed the story as it was written. I liked the fact that the omegas were not looked at as weaker than the alphas in this world.
This is an author who obviously has a great sense of humor, and I appreciated it very much in this bundle of stories.

Confused at all the strikingly positive reviews

I hesitated at providing a review as it may just be that these types of stories are not for me, but there were enough, more objective, issues and all of the currently existing written reviews were overwhelmingly positive, that I felt another opinion might prove useful to others.

With regard to the stories, to me they were just too simple. Simple in the context of they lacked the more subtle nuances of human interaction, things were just too cut and dried. For example, a fiercely independent main character is introduced in the first book that none-the-less completely surrenders their basic identity the second their "fated mate" enters the picture. I lost all respect and interest for that character once that happened. Again, this could be a standard feature of this genre, but to me it just was more an indication of an unseasoned author.

With regard to the performance, here is where I will be even more critical. The fact is that a good narration can rescue a weak book, but in this case, for me at least, it just dug the grave even deeper. The voice choices were many times questionable (e.g., cross between a parodied stereotypical southern belle/aunt Jamaya) and other times stilted (e.g., many sounded almost robotic, i.e., slow and punctuated).

I have listened to many books here on audible, and a fair portion in this romance category, but I have to say, this is the first one that I seriously considered returning.

Excellent series!

Loved this entire series by Susi Hawke and narrated by John Solo who is becoming one of my favorite narrators! Both author and narrator joined together to bring us this great series! Loved all three books and I would have to say that these are now my favorite books by Susi Hawke!

Alpha's Heart

4.5 Stars

This series is a spin-off from the Northern Lodge series, and while it probably would make it easier to understand some of the events described in the first few chapters, it can be read (or listened to) as a standalone series.

While I will admit I wasn't too sure about Taylor at first, he grew on me and I ended up loving him, he truly was the perfect mate for strong alpha Mikhail, who was amazing and very supportive of his unique mate. They were not only hot together, but they seemed so well suited for one another. I'm looking forward to seeing (or listening) more about them and little Alec in the next installments of the series.

I absolutely adored Steffan and I was very glad to find out his book is the third one in this series and included in this bundle! And while Peter and Walter were a bit of an acquired taste after how they both treated Taylor, I was glad to see them being nicer to him later on.

There's an ongoing arc with Mikhail's sister and I can't wait to see how it will unfold. While I haven't met her yet, she appears to be quite unhinged and it shall make for an interesting turn.

John Solo's narration was outstanding! He gave all the characters a unique voice and gave the story that extra-something that made it even better.

I adored this first book. I actually found myself laughing out loud or crying in certain scenes and I'm looking forward to learning more about this world where bear and wolf shifters live in relative harmony.

Alpha's Mates

4 Stars

The second book in the series features Jules, a jaguar shifter, Sean, a wolf shifter and Taylor's older brother, and Colin, a bear shifter.

While I enjoyed it, I found one of the sex scenes a bit jarring, I guess I could say it was BDSM lite, but I wasn't expecting it and quite frankly, I like to be prepared or in the mood when reading those kinds of scenes. Other than that, I found this triad to be very balanced and the three of them had great chemistry. I didn't feel like any of them felt dispensable, which is always good in this kind of books.

The ongoing plotline with Mikhail's sister is very interesting and I can't wait to see more of Tommy in subsequent books. While he's a mercenary, and not very clean at that, he seemed to be a good man and could be a great asset for the den.

John Solo is outdoing himself with these series, his voice is very enjoyable and damn, if his accent for Jules didn't make the room's temp go up a notch or two! ;)

Alpha's Strength
5 Stars!

This third installment was the book I was looking forward to the most. I adored Steffan on the first two books and seeing him with Diego was just icing on the cake. They were just so well-suited for one another. Diego was a totally kickass omega and well, Steffan was his own lovable, fun self, I just adore that he's so real. Diego and Steffan had chemistry in spades and their lovemaking was hot, hot, HOT!

I'm enjoying the ongoing storyline with Mikhail's sister. Even if I haven't met her yet, she's wrecked a lot of havoc already. Hope she gets her comeuppance soon.

And this was another fantastic narration by John Solo! If you have the chance to pick this bundle in audiobook, I can assure you won't be disappointed, it's definitely one of my favorites of his.

Wonderful shifter books!

Amazing and wonderful! I love these books and cannot wait for more to come out on audio. Each of them has a HEA while there are story aspects to pull each book together. You have a little bit of everything in these stories and you'll find yourself snickering as you listen.

John Solo does an amazing job bringing each character to life and sucks you into the books instantly.

Love hearing these characters come to life!

Susi Hawke’s Northern Pines Den series is one of my favorite mpreg series to date. These books have fun and entertaining characters and stories with an overall series arc that adds a dramatic feel to the love and humor. John Solo is the perfect narrator to bring these characters to life. He gives an entertaining and dynamic performance, successfully emphasizing nuances between different characters’ voices, accents, and personalities. Looking forward to listening to the rest of the series in audio too!

Nice spin off series of The Northern Lodge Pack...

Alpha's Hearts: The exchange program is underway between the wolf pack and the bears. They are trying to encourage the likelihood of the shifters finding their fated mates. Taylor is a "peacock," with his flamboyantly colored hair and his gages. He volunteers to be one of the first exchanged, and his allergy prone cousin is sent along as a sort of chaperone.

Mikael has been called away to deal with his banished sister, and has left his heir to run things with his second in his absence. Stefan is more progressive than the old fashioned bears and he and Taylor become fast friends. Unfortunately, they are involved in an adolescent "contest" when Mikael returns and scents his mate for the first time.

The story was funny at times, but the plot was very predictable. I really found the narrator's choice of voice for Taylor grating, but I kept going. This would have been a 2.75 🌟 on its own.

Alpha's Mates: This was a sweet manage of an Alpha jaguar, an Alpha wolf, and an Omega bear. There is a lot more action in this story, and we see more of the situation with Mikael's evil twin sister. I really liked Jules, and felt just a bit sorry for Sean because of his inferior senses to his two mates. I was disappointed that we didn't get more character development, but I did like this story. I thought that the narrator did a good job with these characters. 4 🌟 for this one.

Alpha's Strength: This is Stefan and Diego's story. I really liked Stefan's snarky banter in the previous books, but we don't get to see as much of it here. He meets his mate, a jaguar Omega and things take off really quickly. Diego comes off as a spoiled little brat, until he becomes Mr perfect. The war plays a big role in this book, so it is not as character focused. We do see that Stefan has matured a bit, but it is Diego who becomes the driving force behind the outcome of the story. 3.75 🌟 for this one.

I received a free copy of this audiobook.

Great value bundle to start this great series

I really enjoyed this package. Having the three books in one was a great way to really get into the world that Susi Hawke had created.
The characters are fun and hot, and the storylines connect well allowing you to get to know the characters as they develop and the romance is lovely.
The 'villian' plot line developing throughout the series is interesting too and I'm keen to continue the series and see where that goes.
John Solo's narration is solid as always, he brings a different feel to each character and can swing from rugged to sassy in a breath.

Bears and Wolves and Jaguars...oh, my!

So, it's been a while since I had read the Northern Pines Den books and I had forgotten about the sibling war between the Bear Den Alpha Mikael and his sister Yvonne who seems to be a nasty piece of work by all accounts! John Solo does an excellent job of bringing this interesting mix of personalities and shifter types to life and giving them unique voices.
The first tale is all about the Alpha Mikael and the quirky Omega wolf who is revealed as his fated mate. Taylor certainly stands out in a crowd and I love how he and his Alpha mate seem to complement each other perfectly despite their difference in style and size. There are some truly hilarious laugh out loud moments as Taylor tries to become acquainted with the bears of the Den.
The second story follows immediately on the heels of book 1 and introduces Taylor's brother Sean, a bear omega called Colin who gets kidnapped by Yvonne's Rogue wolves, and former soldier Jules, a Jaguar shifter. I love how Jules finds both his omega and also his other mate, Sean, alpha wolf and brother to the Den Alpha's mate, who also happened to be a witness to the kidnapping of the bear omega. This was quite an exciting tale as Yvonne starts to strike in earnest at her brother and his Den.
The third book focusses on Stefan, the Alpha Heir to Mikael (until Mike and Taylor's cub is old enough to take on the mantle of Alpha Heir) as he encounters his true mate Diego, cousin to Jules and a Jaguar omega. There are lots of exciting and dramatic moments in this tale as the war rages on with Rogue attacks on the Den, and also some pregnancy complications for Diego.
Highly recommend for all Susi Hawke fans, true fans of MPreg, and fans of John Solo, narrator extraordinaire...some fantastic accents!

Good 3 story bundle with good narration.

I had a good time listening to these stories (the series is new to me). The stories are fun, interesting with some adventure/suspense. I liked the concept of different shifter species trying to coexist and that their coud have a mate outside of their species.
I like John Solo's stytle and voice, so it was no surprise that I would enjoy this audiobook. He injects fun into the sassy characters. He has a good sense of the characters and how to voice them. I thoughly enjoyed listening to this.

A fun, enjoyable series with great narration

This is my first time with this series and I really enjoyed listening to these first three books.
The basis of the series is bears and wolves from different packs coming together to give the chance at meeting their fated mates. There is a different couple focused on in each book but there is also a plot line that spans the series and keeps you interested.
There are really interesting characters included throughout the series and written well. I only struggled to connect with one, in book three and found him to be hard to listen to. Friendship and love is prominent among the group across all books and I was drawn into each relationship right from the start. It was easy to hear the attraction that each felt and John has done a wonderful job at voicing so many individual characters. I found myself laughing and sad right along with the characters and enjoyed the feelings that came across. John's narration pulls you into the story and the interaction between the mates and friends in the Den.
Definitely recommend, another great series from Susie Hawke and looking forward to hearing the next in the series.

A saucy, fast-paced, little collection!!

Alpha’s Hearts
I loved Taylor. So sassy, fun and unique; a wonderful little peacock! It was predictable that he would end up with the Alpha Mikael but that’s to be expected. It was a thrilling, sassy and snarky adventure for Mikael and Taylor to find, scent and mate. I enjoyed that Taylor stayed true to himself and liked that he rose perfectly to the Alpha mate position. Their knotting was hot and the dynamics between a bear and a wolf shifter was interesting to ‘read’ too. I felt a little lost in parts of this story and would recommend first reading Northern Lodge Pack series to understand the threatening elements in this story and know more of the characters. Apparently, we had already met these characters before in the Northern Lodge Pack Series. After this story, I went onto ‘read’ Northern Lodge Pack Book 6 to understand more about Mikael’s sister, what she had to do with Oskar and the threat she poses that is mentioned throughout this book and into the next story too.

I also loved Alpha Heir, Stefen and look forward to his story. He seemed like a lot of fun and like Taylor, not afraid to be himself! (I also love Steffy-kins relationship with Tay-Tay LOL).

Alpha’s Mates
I very much liked Jules, Colin and Sean’s story. I enjoyed this triad and the unique dynamics between 2 Alphas and an Omega. I liked that Sean, like Colin, was a virgin too, so sweet! These three are HOT together (and I learned things I’m not sure I needed too) and I felt more connected to this story having first listened to Alpha’s Heart and Omega Accepted. I can now follow the characters and threats a lot better. In this story, the pack war and threats are escalating and the attacks in this story were sad as well as added a thrill of danger as this triad found their place together. I look forward to seeing what will happen next!!

Alpha’s Strength
I love Stefen and loved his story. Diageo was wonderful! I enjoyed the thrilling elements as the war against Yuvonne continues and like the ‘real-world’ pregnancy issues Diageo faces. This was probably my favorite story from this collection and I really enjoyed seeing Stefen find his fated mate and see all the other couples continue their happily ever after(s), in light of the upcoming/continuing war.

This collection has set the pace for the continuing war with Yuvonne and has me intrigued to see what’s to happen next and who else will find their mates in this Den!

All in all, great fated mates short story collection but would recommend reading/listening as a continuation on from Northern Lodge Pack Series for the story flow to make sense.

Great narration by John Solo. He does great dialects, tones and had the perfect story flow. Very talented and will continue to be on my top list of narrators!

Thanks for reading!

Sweet and sexy

A great box set of short shifter stories from Susie Hawke, Northern Pines Den Alphas Books 1-3, is a great series filled with sweet, fun, sexy shifters, meeting their true mates.
Although it is predominantly a lighthearted, set of stories filled with hilarious situations, and sexy times, there is also a background of loss and impending war running throughout the three books, which is written extremely well.
Great light listening.
