I'm not recalling a detective story with
quite this involved a bad guy's revenge. As the ending approached the author's mastery of intricacy
popped right up! Wow! An excellent book. And, Audible has more in this series. And each can stand alone. You will meet the same mesmerizing narrator in each. And I just looked up Zertex Publishing - it is based in the Highlands and it's new. Good grief.
What more can a mystery fan want as winter rolls in?

Revenge never ends well!

Another fantastic story! DCI Logan and team are still struggling w the death of one of their members, as well as a harrowing case on one of the outlying islands, when they get word that a killer has escaped. This killer, Owen Petrie, was thought to be brain damaged…except he was biding his time. Now he is out for revenge and everyone close to Jack is in danger. This one is another heartbreaker for the team and we are left to wonder if it’s the end of an era. Then Jack changes his mind…can’t wait to see what’s next!

Narrator & Story are a perfect match

Angus King is tremendous! The development of the characters and their voices over the first 6 books is a remarkable compliment to JD Kirk’s intense story telling. 100% hooked on the series!

Edge of My Seat

As much as I wanted to put the book aside to let my pounding heart calm down, I couldn't. such a good series and narrator

Glad this wasn’t the first one in the series that I read.

I like the characters, and I particularly like Angus King as a narrator. That said, I’m not a fan of villains to go from one book to the next, especially villains like Petrie. Story was over the top and I couldn’t wait for it to end. Great detecting, very poor execution. I sure don’t know how to follow protocol, and it just got to the point of being a contrived way of moving the story along.

Love this book. I cannot wait for the next book in the series. Angus King is great and bring the characters to a different level.

Maybe a bit *too* intense

I’m gonna try not to spoil this for anybody else, but this one was really really hard to get through. Just one gut wrenching situation after another, and they began to pile on top of one another and it was all I could do to finish it. I totally love the series, and Angus King is the best narrating in this role, but I’m glad to see the end of this book. Hope the next one is a little less graphic.
