Too cruel for my taste

The story is good but I couldn’t finish the book because of aspects and incidents of cruelty that I found to be unbearably disturbing. If I remember I will avoid this author in the future.

Thoroughly enjoyable story/fantastic narrator!

Hesitated after reading reviews complaining of rampant, gory, detailed accounts of animal abuse throughout, but these folks should stick to romance novels/comedies/cookbooks and actively avoid books with storylines centered around serial killers. Profilers have long used the "homicidal triad" to identify serial killers, one leg of this triad being animal abuse. So, while the author did describe some cruelty rather graphically, it was incorporated into the storyline and not gratuitous by any means. I found Jack Logan to be a main character who is believable, likeable and damned funny. The other characters were equally likeable and like other readers, i was delighted that the author didn't feel the need to have Jack romance any of the female detectives, especially Sinead, who I hope to see in the next book(s) as well. Overall great book and I cant wait to dive into this series!

Surprised by other reviews

I purchased this title as a daily deal and I am certainly glad I did. I am always looking for a new series of detective mysteries, but I don't like anything too graphic in romance or violence. I started listening to this book and then read a few reviews (not many). A couple that I read said that the book had some scenes that were too violent for them. I waited on tenterhooks for the graphic violence, but it never came. It is a murder mystery, but it really is not gory. I like the main character very well and the plot moved along at a good clip. I enjoyed the narration, also. Sometimes I have difficulty with a Scottish accent, but I easily understood the narrator. I am planning on buying the next book in the series just as soon as I finish this review. Two thumbs up.

Don't believe everyone's review

I absolutely loved this book. I am a animal lover and it was not as extreme as other reviewers wrote. I actually almost didn't pick this book. Due to what I was reading from other reviewers. I am so happy I toke a chance. this book was very well done and the performance was excellent. I look forward to reading more from this writer.

I Nearly didn’t read this book because of some of the negative reviews.

I thought it was very well done and I really liked the characters.

And the ending was A surprise!

LOGAN EXIBITS MORE BRAWN THAN BRAIN

Overall it was an enjoyable read. I found Logan to be flawed, making predictable judgment errors inconsistent with his perceived reputation. My greatest disappointment is that a major story line with one essential character was left unfinished. I'm hoping that it will be revisited in a later book. I will continue with the series.

Highly recommend, if you enjoy this genre

Superb voice actor performance! Excellent plot with twists and turns. If you enjoy a great detective novel, you want to listen to Litter of Bones. 🎉

Like the story and narrator

Enjoyed entire book , will get more audiobooks into the series . Narrator is great .. story is dark and not obvious

Narrator varies volume too much

The attempt to mimic the whispers of some of the characters leaves the listener reaching back and forth for volume control. The style may be accurate but not a pleasant listening experience. Otherwise a good story.

Some obvious procedural issues

It’s okay. The main character is all steamrolling and no still deep thinking. I prefer some cerebral elements to my mysteries.
