Publisher's summary

Poppy never imagined she’d move to the English countryside and fall in love with a smug, demanding, ginger-haired male. Of course, that was before she discovered that she’d inherited a cottage garden nursery and before she met a certain talkative orange cat. Now she’s embracing a new life filled with rambling roses, fragrant herbs, warm summer days…and weeds (lots of weeds), as she attempts to restore the neglected cottage garden to its former glory.

When she lands her first gardening job at a beautiful country house, Poppy is delighted to earn some much-needed money. But she barely sets foot in the flower bed before the meddling neighbour drops dead in front of her - murdered by a lethal poison. Before she knows it, Poppy is busy weeding out suspects, helped by mad scientist Bertie and his feisty terrier, Einstein, plus a whole host of nosy villagers…not to mention maverick crime author Nick Forrest.

But with her clients’ flowerbed mysteriously dying and red herrings at every turn, Poppy soon discovers that neither gardening nor sleuthing are as simple as she thinks....

Great fun cozy English and a mystery

I love H.Y. Hanna’s mysteries. I laugh out loud in every one of her mysteries, so far. These are great fun and clean. They are well written and engaging.

wonderful

I enjoy all of Hannah's book series, Im especially enjoying Poppy. I love that the cat is the neighbor's territorial ginger, and how she has a connection with Suzanne, the detective. Refreshing to see the main Character not relying on the connections of a male Character.. Obviously it would be great for her and Nick to get together. But Im enjoying the Main character meeting friends and such Without the relationship that Caitlin & Gemma have in the other series.
Hannah has a great ability to tap into some great and diverse Characters. The stories don't pull "last Chapter Characters" who are the killers without having been in the book until theend.
Pearl Hewitt is the by far the best Audible on line narrator.

About the narration..

I like H.Y Hanna, and all of her books. I also really love Pearl’s narration and how well she brings the characters to life. My only qualm is the “narration” of the cat’s meows. It’s so loud and obnoxious, and if you’re listening to the book while relaxing it will jolt you up. It’s such a harsh MOWWWW and it makes the cat character incredibly annoying. I have this complaint for all the books, why on earth is the cat not done more quietly and gently? The cat makes many appearances too, so it’s not just one time, but many many times over and over.

An Entertaining Escape

Replete with botany, mystery and a dash of comedy. The narrator captures the experience.

Murder in the Garden

This 2nd entry in the English Cottage Garden series was an enjoyable listen. H.Y. Hanna has a gift for combining mystery and humor. An unusual murder, a likeable heroine, quirky neighbors, unexpected twists, a beautiful English garden, not to mention a couple of intelligent and entertaining pets, are all part of this book's charm. It was by turns, funny, exciting, dramatic, surprising - I was kept guessing until the end.
The narrator, Pearl Hewitt, is excellent at giving each character just the right voice. It's a pleasure to listen to her delightful accent.
If you enjoy clean cozy mysteries, I recommend the English Cottage Garden Mysteries, as well as the Oxford Tearoom series.
I was given a copy of Silent Bud Deadly in exchange for my honest review.

A. Deadly killer

I really enjoyed this book and couldn't wait for it to be released as an audio book. It was so worth the wait I really enjoyed the audio version even more than reading it, with fun characters , quirky pets, mystery, murder and gardening tips what's not to like! I like all the series the author writes but I think this series is firmly becoming my favourite. I can't wait for the next book.

This is the second book in the series and if you haven't read the first book why not? Don't worry you don't need to have read the first book to enjoy this one but with recurring characters it helps and it is fun to learn more about each one too.
Poppy lands herself her first paying job and is hired to make over a garden but it is not long before things start to die and I don't just mean the plants. In a small English town Poppy finds that the villagers will say more to her than they will to the police and she is talked in to investigating. With plenty of suspects, gossip and alibi's she will have her work cut out for as well as trying to not become a murderer herself by committing plant homicide. Who said living in the country was boring. A fun read and listen.
I liked the narrator and found she added humour to characters with her interpretations of them. Especial the vocal cat's 'Now".

I love this series. H.Y. Hanna does not disappoint

I have yet to find a spot in her books that makes me bored. I am so glad that Audible carries her books.
