Publisher's Summary

Kelsey has lived most of her life in a shadow of suspicion, raised to see danger everywhere. Her mother hasn't set foot outside their front door in 17 years, since she escaped from her kidnappers with nothing but her attacker's baby growing inside her - Kelsey. Kelsey knows she's supposed to keep a low profile and stay off the grid for their protection, but that plan is shattered when her dramatic car accident and rescue by volunteer firefighter and classmate Ryan Baker sparks media coverage. A few days later, she arrives home to find her mother missing. Now, to have a chance at a future, Kelsey will have to face her darkest fears. Because someone is coming for her. And the truth about the past may end up being the most dangerous thing of all.

Fast Paced/Action Packed!

Great performance and really great storyline.
Halfway through every character was suspicious and I was worn out. The truth was uncovered for me....and not by me...at the very end. As it should be!

Nail biter for sure!

The story was great, the narration was wonderful. Kept me listening and on the edge of my seat. The only down side was right in the middle of this huge crisis, Kelsie goes back in her memories and it becomes a little tedious. All in all, it's a wonderful book. Fantastic YA book except for some swearing and taking of the Lord's name in vain.

A Great YA romance, thriller, and suspense book!

I loved this book! The narration was perfect! She kept the ton of fear all way through, even in the slower parts. The romance between Ryan and Kelsey was so awkward and affordable! The mystery and tension was really interesting and scary! I thought that the themes of "fear" "secrets" "lies" "family" and "inherited fears" was incredible compelling! Just read this book!

Enjoyable

Feels like a few stories I've read before but with enough little twists to keep me interested. Narration was good and pleasant to follow.

Omg!!! The narrator was so irritating!

Liked where the story was going but the way the narrator kept taking these weird clicking breaths before speaking drove me crazy! Couldn't finish. :(

Underwhelming

I am listening to a book I am only mildly interested in. None of the characters are likable enough to be rooting for. The story line has a few twists, but even that left me only mildly interested. This was one of the books that I listened to, while just wishing for it to be over.

Nice for teens

Great story. A little young for me, but didn’t realize until I got it. But it kept my attention and I did listen to the end so I could hear what finally happened.

Intended for a teenage audience

The first half of the book was fast-paced and involving. The second half surpassed my credibility--I found it boring and downright silly.

Good young adult fiction!

This is first opportunity to listen to Amanda Dolan narrate. Her performance is outstanding. The plot is good but not exceptional. (This book is yesterday's Audible Daily Deal.)

Great storyline, interesting characters, awesome suspense/unraveling of the plot;some of the characters actions unrealistic

This is an entertaining book that keeps the listener/reader tuned in. I wouldn’t say it’s the among most well written literary masterpieces... but it isn’t a horrible book either. I’d compare it to a television series that one gets hooked to! It’s a great storyline, has constant action, mixed with pieces of an unknown background story... all of which make this an impossible read to put down; but like I said, it’s more like a small budget TV series (that you love) rather than an Academy Award winning movie! I will say that although all the characters are well developed, very likable, and have great interaction... some of the romance scenes between the main character and her new love interest/life saving classmate are just slightly unbelievable! I mean who would think about a guy you were crushing on when your only family member you have had since birth is missing, and/or could be dead?! I just can’t believe anyone would choose to make out with a crush; and worry about him washing your clothes at such a time of distress. That is what I found to be the most unrealistic part of this story. But other than that, I enjoyed this book! I’d say if you are trying to decide to read this book or not, give it a try! It won’t waste your time, it will keep your attention until the very end! But again, think television series, and not movie of the year! ;)
