It's all about planning and prepping

This book hits the nail on the head when it talks about the developmental changes that kids with autism go thru. Unlike other children, developmental milestones come with significant adjustments. In fact, in just about every aspect, having a child with autism takes more time, planning, and prepping. This book dives deep into the need for educational considerations as well as the need for professional support. The help is out there, but it takes work to find it. With effort, navigating academic and social challenges can be done well.

Ignoring What Others See, Seeing What Others Miss

Having a mild form of autism myself (Asperger's Syndrome to be exact and having been diagnosed at the age of five) this is a book that I found highly informative and wished that my parents had back in the day. I am personally aware that autism come in varying degrees, some more profound than others, but the subject has always been a fascination of mine. Regardless of what type we are talking about, I always like to take it as a means of learning about others with the condition and a process of self-discovery. Kinda like an iron sharpens iron sort of thing. While I don't think autism will ever be cured, one can cope with it. That and if correctly harnessed (like anything in life) it can open many doors as well as unlock so much potential. Parenting a child with autism is a different process, but it doesn't have to be a hard one. Autism is basically processing information and interacting with the world differently. I have heard it said, "Autism is ignoring what others see, but discovering what others miss." Truer words could've never been spoken.
