Publisher's Summary

For years Callan Carrigan has been her father's right-hand man, so when her dad's will names city slicker Court McAllister the new owner of the Circle C Ranch, Callan feels betrayed on every level.

Then she and her sisters find their mother's diaries, hidden from them by their father since their mother's accidental death 18 years ago, and the shocking revelations explain a lot. Reeling, Callan seeks refuge in the local saloon, where it seems no one can reach her until Court offers her a challenge.

If she agrees to be foreman at the Circle C for one year, he'll deed the ranch back to her and her sisters. The deal seems too sweet at first - until Callan realizes Court has his eyes on something she protects even more than her family's land: her heart.

Bad

This book contained the least connection I think I’ve ever seen in a book. Callan show NO FEELINGS at all, NOTHING toward Court WHATSOEVER. I don’t understand how the book could be filled with so many words and have no love connection between the characters. None. And he claimed he’d been into her from the beginning and he was a great guy, but there was no love. Narrator was backwards on her male/female voices. Completely backwards.

Mediocre novella and terrible narrator..

Well, I wasn’t crazy about this novella. I really didn’t like Callan. I didn’t like her until the very end of the story when she stopped feeling sorry for herself. I liked every other character but she got on my last nerve. I wouldn’t be thrilled with another book/novella by this author.

This was a very clean story. Definitely rated G.

As to the narration: Emily Cauldwell is a very poor narrator. Any female who can’t sound even a little manly shouldn’t narrate. Just because she can do a woman’s voice doesn’t mean a thing. Every time Court spoke I cringed.

Narrator needs help!

The narrator makes her voice ugly for the female voices and very feminine for the male voices which made it hard to listen to. Cute story though.

Nice

Story was enjoyable. Personally I feel like the narrator left a lot to be desired. In the end it was a nice story.

Enjoyed the story

It would have been better if the narrator would have been more animated. However, I did enjoy the story.

Callan and Court

An emotionally sweet, charming and endearing romance I enjoyed every single moment of this story. Narration was great!

So tough to listen to.

The story seems ok, but the narration of the guy is terrible. Almost a mix between Kermit the frog and a woman. I’m not sure what the narrator was going for with that, but it missed the mark.
Everyone else seemed pretty good.

Just Ok

The story was ok.. I like this writer's style.. The story us never dull, keeps your attention. But I never felt a connection between the couple and I couldn't stand Callan. Yeah she got a raw deal but she was just sooooo unlikable. (weird because I loved her in the previous books). Even as the last sentence was read I still hated her.

Also too many people in the cast of characters this time. OMG so many names were flying everywhere, I needed a cheat sheet to try and keep up with who everyone is... it was exhausting.

Then, The "secret" is so frikkin ridiculous 🙄 I laughed when revealed. Seriously? I also didn't agree with the author's final portrayal of the father. It didn't make sense to me at all.

Finally the narration was not good this time. The different voices were all jumbled up. Confusing! (though having to distinguish many characters may have been the problem).

Awesome Series

Not your typical romance, but excellent story with interesting twists and turns. I've enjoyed each audio book in this series.
