Publisher's Summary

When Eliza Bramble signs up for the Christmas Mountain Ski package with Marshal McKenzie, owner of Grizzly Adventures in Marietta, Montana, she's looking to escape. Her Bramble B&B Christmas blog has just gone viral, attracting the attention of a two-timing man who hurt her very badly. Getting out of town for Christmas is her only way to find peace. Instead she finds herself trapped on a vacation with a bickering couple and their two spoiled children as well as a young married couple who barely speak to one another.

The tension is almost unbearable - and then a blizzard hits, stranding them all in a remote ski lodge for the holidays. Christmas is looking like a write-off until Marshall suggests they make the best of what they have and work together. Eliza is surprised to find that the avid outdoorsman has a special touch with people...and with her in particular. Soon she realizes Marshall isn't fixing just Christmas but her broken heart, too.

It was too short!

I enjoyed all of the books set in Marietta! I would read many more if they were like this series.

Not your typical Christmas

Eliza Bramble is a cousin to the Carrigan sisters. At Christmas time she feels the need to get away, because her lousy ex-boyfriend is coming to town. She finds getting away to be more than she bargained for as she is snowed in with a number of others with a huge blizzard. She and the tour guide Marshall worked really hard to make the best of a bad time. In the process they fall in love. Beautiful scenery and a sweet story. What I loved most is that Marshall did not jump out at you as this hot cowboy, but he seemed rather ordinary and yet he was an amazing guy.

Problems

As someone else mentioned, the narrator has trouble distinguishing between her male and female voices. And the author has gotten lazy the last 2 books of the series where the love story is rushed to the end with hardly any heartfelt build up. Seems lazy and thrown together. Romance listeners expect better. The story had more potential than in delivered.

Ehh

So here is what I'm not liking about this series.... In every book the woman is so in love with someone else until the last 10 minutes and then bam I'm so in love with the main male character. I did like Marshall he seems like a good guy and Eliza seems like a hard working decent woman. Together they seem to go together well. So, this one like the last one was just okay not great but not terrible.

Love amongst the robots

Not normally my cup of tea but if you're looking for a sweet romance with little angst or heartbreak you might enjoy this book. My main issue is that the narrator infused very little emotion into the reading, and in the end most of the characters sounded more like a robots programmed to behave like humans, than actual people. This isn't helped by the fact that, in spite of their histories of disappointment and heartbreak, both main characters are almost too positive and nice to be real.

The story develops organically as we learn more about each of the main protagonists. In the end their relentless optimism catches on with their fellow snowed-in Grinches, and everyone learns the true meaning of Christmas.

Fun Listen in the Summer

Yes, this was a very nice listen in June while we are experiencing hot, humid temps in the upper 90s. This is a typical romance set about the Bramblewood Inn. Always fun.

just okay

I wish the narrators voice had more range so you can easily distinguish between the different characters. So many times I thought the lead male was talking and it turned out to be the lead female.
