Publisher's summary

Mason Hall, Navy SEAL, knows all about difficult assignments, but his current mission is one for the record books. Not only must he find a wife - and get her pregnant - or forfeit the ranch his family has prized for generations, he must also convince his three brothers to marry, too - before the year is up. Who knew one city girl and three wayward brothers could put up such a fight?

Regan Anderson can't wait any longer to meet Mr. Right, so she's taken matters into her own hands. She's quit her job, given up her nice apartment and undergone all the preliminary appointments to prepare for artificial insemination. Still, becoming a single mother is daunting, so when she spots Mason's Wife Wanted ad on the Internet one night, she's ready for a few laughs. She's sure the ad must be fake, but when Mason answers back, she soon finds herself wanting more than a long distance relationship.

If Mason can just keep her talking until he makes it home from Afghanistan, he's sure he can convince Regan he's her man. But when he whisks her off for a trial run in Chance Creek, they're in for an unpleasant surprise. The ranch is in ruins, the house has been stripped, and they're going to have to work day and night to beat Mason's deadline to win it back.

Can two strangers pull together against all odds? Or is this mission doomed to fail?

4 stars for the romantic relationship.

1 star for something unfair and unjust. Anger overpowered my enjoyment.

THE SETTING INFURIATED ME.
My background is taxes and accounting which is probably why I had a huge problem. I’m sure others won’t be as bothered. I value authors trying new things and writing about new things. But this just hit the wrong button for me.

1. Zeke owns a ranch. He’s a loser. He’s been stripping the ranch for money -- selling appliances, furniture and even the fencing. It’s a small town. So why do a dozen locals lend him money which they know he won’t repay? If they were helping a friend fine. But if they expected to be repaid by Zeke’s relatives, that is unjust and unfair. After Zeke died, the locals went to Mason the nephew to collect. I was so angry! How would you like it if someone came up to you and said your uncle owed me $2,000 and I expect you to pay it? And there is nothing in writing. They could be making this up. Mason barely had enough savings to stock the ranch with cattle and horses. But finding the ranch in disrepair was a huge financial set back. He just got out of the military. He wasn’t rich. And then to find he was expected to pay off Zeke’s personal debts on top of that? Plus, where’s the respect and honor for our military heroes? The locals were fools to loan money to Zeke. But if they’re going to go to someone, it should be Zeke’s son or the aunt, not Mason. Mason was being honorable and paid the debts. It made me sick to my stomach.

2. The ranch should have been sold with proceeds used to pay Zeke’s debts, including probable estate taxes. Zeke had no will so it gets even murkier as to why the land would go to Heloise, and other tax issues. But I won’t go into that. I was willing to suspend disbelief about the tax things. The part about Zeke’s personal debts is my problem.

In summary, I don’t mind Heloise requiring the nephews to get married, stock the ranch, and other things. I don’t mind the nephews finding the ranch stripped down requiring them to spend a lot of money to fix it. Those were ok plot devices. But I did not like paying Zeke’s debts. The plot did not need that. It’s already got the downer of financial burden.

AS TO THE ROMANCE STORY:
I enjoyed the way the couple met, how they got to know each other, their conversations, how they reacted to the ranch, the things they did, and how they fell in love. And I was delighted to find there was no big-misunderstanding-separation. How nice to skip that formulaic device.

Because the author did the romance part well, I immediately bought the second book - thinking: at least the Zeke debt subject is done and I won’t have to read that again. But I had a different problem with the sequel “The Soldier’s E-Mail...” I felt there was too much repetition and dragging out about the hero’s guilt. I gave it 3 stars, but again I enjoyed the relationship part.

AUDIOBOOK NARRATOR – Cassandra Livington.
She sounded like she had a stuffy nose. Her voice was not as clear as other narrators. She used a southern accent for some of the women which I don’t think was accurate for Montana people. I didn’t mind it, but I kept wondering about it. Otherwise her narration was good.

Narrative mode: 3rd person.
Genre: contemporary romance.

Cora Seton's Chance Creek series delivers again!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Absolutely! Cora Seton has an ability to create characters that are believable and the audio listener is easily launched into the world of Chance Creek. Mason and Regan jump out of the recording and I feel as if I know them. Cora's Chance Creek series never fails to deliver. I can't wait to listen to Austin's story!

What did you like best about this story?

Cora Seton's Navy Seals Email Order Bride starts out with two very different people and lifestyles and shows the progression of Mason and Regan's relationship. The start of the book is hilarious with the premise that Aunt Heloise has challenged Mason and his military brothers Colton, Austin, Zane to marry within the year and get the Hall Ranch up and running. She want to avoid leaving it to her son Darren, whom she knows doesn't take any pride in the ranch. Mason soon posts an ad for him and his brothers. After one night of too much wine Regan answers an online post for a bride. The emails and questions back and forth between the two are really engaging. The books not only has some great hot and steamy scenes, it also tackles their relationship and how they try to make it work after having gone from email and video chats spanning two continents to being in each other's physical presence. I really likes how believable the conversations that they had about how to make their relationship work and what questions Regan finds to ask. Mason is just dreamy with his very chivalrous behavior. They are both willing to work hard and determined to try and make things work for one another. Their dedication to family and each wanting to have their own family is a driving force behind both of their characters. My favorite part of the book was when Mason and Regan ran the course. Will they be able to make their relationship on the dilapidated Hall Ranch work? You'll have to listen to find out.

What about Cassandra Livingston’s performance did you like?

I like being able to listen in the car while commuting. I am able to enjoy books even if I don't have time to read.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I did laugh several times out loud throughout the story. There are some very funny parts in the beginning of the story. Some of the skyping scenes are funny. Cora creates humorous situations that pop up throughout the story. The story keeps you guessing and hoping for other Chance Creek favorites to make an appearance.

Any additional comments?

I really like enjoy cowboy romance novels. Who doesn't love to be transported into another world for an escape into a wonderfully written romance? Cora is an excellent choice for these types of stories.

Terrible Narration

The narration is terrible when doing the voices of the male characters. Almost hard to get through!

Heroes of Chance Creek 1

I Freaking LOVED this!!! The drunken letter composed during Pride and Prejudice has made me a Cora Seton fan for life. TEARS!!! OMG! However, I have to agree with the reviewer who was annoyed by Mason being hit up for his uncle's debts. I had a hard time with that too. He would in no way be responsible for paying once cent of that to anyone, and his deciding to do so anyway was extremely nice, especially with the hardware store guy who was a total douche to him. ANYWAY-- moving on… Regan and Mason are just so dang cute. I want the rest of this series, and I need to see how things work out for the other brothers. The teaser chapters at the end for book 2 are diabolical… and appreciated.

Cassandra Livingston does an excellent job with narration and performance. Her cadence, tone, pronunciation, enunciation, depth of emotion and comedic timing are just perfect for this. Her male voices aren't stellar, but they are definitely more than adequate. Overall, she was great.

A very funny listen Love it.

If you could sum up The Navy SEAL's E-Mail Order Bride in three words, what would they be?

Humors, outstanding, wonderful

Which scene was your favorite?

When Regan answered the ad and Mason's reply

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes I had a very hard time putting this down. I loved this story line and was really surprised that it turned out so well.

Any additional comments?

I always have one book I listen to and another I read, I was torn between wish one to finish they were both outstanding and I had a hard time putting them down. I was a little iffy with the title whether or not I wanted to read this. I had heard a lot of good things about this series and thought I would give it a try. It was really worth my time and money but I got this audio as a deal. At the time of this post the book is free, when you buy the book you get the audio for 1.99 on amazon. It did not take long for the author to pull me in with this humorous read. Just wait until you read the list of what this male wants in his bride and the reply Regan gives. I am still chuckling over that and do plan to listen to this audio again in the near future. I have marked the rest of the series to my list that I want to read or listen to. It will not take long for this author to pull you in and keep you turning the pages.

Mason is coming out of the military when he gets a letter from his aunt that she will give him the land that was his families if he 1. get married 2. has a baby 3. get his brothers all married in a year. He really wants his families land back and is willing to do what he has to, to make this happen. The story starts off with him talking to his brothers telling them what they have to do. That he has setup a website with an ad....At this point you spend most of your time laughing away. These are strong alpha males who are charming, handsome and just darling as they take their women by storm. They must weed through thousands of emails to find their women. Mason receives an email that is a little on the strange side but man it gets his attention. He replies back and it doesn't take him long to work out this is the women he wants. now he just has to talk her into it......

Regan is tired of waiting for the man of her dreams and decides to take matters into her own hands. She gives up her job, gets a lower place to rent, and makes plans to for artificial insemination. She is bored and drinking when she sees the ad for the mail order bride. She just couldn't stop herself from answering. Maybe she shouldn't have drunk so much or maybe she should have just waited until she isn't drinking or maybe she should not have answer the dang thing at all. You are going to die laughing to her answer and Mason's reply.

These are two wonderful characters you will fall in love with as you watch them get through some very trying times. They find out what love means and how to get what they want with a lot of hard work.

I thought Cassandra Livingston did a really good job of narration. It did take me a little to get into her male character voices. It didn't take long for the story to take over and any problems I had went away. There are no background noises, her tones are even, and you cannot tell if she takes any breaks just a clear wonderful audio. You have no trouble knowing who is talking and what their emotions are. I am looking forward to listening to more authors from this narrator.

Ms. Seton gives you wonderful character that you can relate to. She puts a spin on the mail order bride updating it today times. She gives you humor that will keep you turning the pages. Not everything is honey and roses. These characters have to overcome so much to get to where they want to be. They work together through some very hard times always finding away to make it interesting as well as lively. Ms. Seton has put a lot of thought into each character giving them wonderful personalities. If you are looking for a book to make you laugh, one that you can relate to and really get into you might want to give this one a try. I am so looking forward to listening to more from this author and following this series.

from cowboys to heroes!

this is the first audio book I've listened to of Cora Seton's. having read ALL of her books, I was so excited to listen to the story in audio book format.

The Navy SEAL'S email order bride is a great start to the heroes of chance creek series.

when the opportunity to earn back their family ranch is presented to the Hall boys, they quickly grab at the chance to go home again!

all of Cora's books are full of purpose, family, loyalty. humor, struggle, hope and love.

the reader of this book did a great job! she was fluid, relaxed, and I believe she really understood the tone of the book. I truly enjoyed listening to her voice. she added southern drawls and deepened her voice slightly when speaking the hero's and his brothers' parts.

I highly recommend reading and/or listening to all of Cora's chance creek books. beginning with the Cowboys of Chance Creek.

A good book

Where does The Navy SEAL's E-Mail Order Bride rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

If i was grading as in school about a b or b+.

What did you like best about this story?

Two people successfully working through a difficult situation. I also liked that there was no danger stocking them around every corner. An interesting book that keeps you reading without having you pacing the floor with tension.

What about Cassandra Livingston’s performance did you like?

I would grade the performance at a B or B+.

Any additional comments?

If you want a good listen that will keep your interest but enable you to relax at the same time, then this an excellent choice. Many books are so loaded with suspense that it is hard to relax and enjoy. i mean they are outstanding books and i love them but there are times that i need to unwind and just enjoy. This a good book for times like that.

This is a good book. Has comedy, romance...you can picture it all as you hear the story.

What about Cassandra Livingston’s performance did you like?

I love how she tried to use different tones for each character she read. You could hear the emotion....not monotone at all!

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

When they were in the fields working while the lightening was coming down.

Any additional comments?

Funny and sweet

Any additional comments?

This book was different from other romances I've read. I little absurd but, we can not want for things to be totally real. The crazy old aunt decided the 4 military brothers should inherit their father's ranch only if in a year, the 4 of them got married. And from an ad the oldest placed, all crazy things start to happen in this series. Very enjoyable but some things just make you feel angry...Worth listening, although the narrador ruined the book. Horrible man voices...no different female voices...
