Publisher's summary

Ethan Cruz should be mending fences on his Montana ranch, but instead he's driving to the Chance Creek, Montana, airport - to pick up the bride he didn't know he had. This latest salvo in his ongoing practical joke battle with his best friend Rob Matheson has gone too far, and Ethan plans to send his "bride" right back home, then get busy plotting his revenge. One look at Autumn Leeds changes his mind, however. Perhaps he needs a bride, after all. A breathtakingly beautiful city bride. Autumn Leeds needs a story - fast - or she's going to lose her lucrative contract with CityPretty Magazine, so when she sees the crazy video plea for a modern mail-order bride for a cowboy, it sounds like the story of the century. Making a video of her own, she casts herself as the perfect mail-order bride for a rancher, but when she finally reaches Montana, she's surprised to find Ethan's the perfect cowboy husband-to-be. Against her better judgment, her plan to keep her handsome groom at arm's length disintegrates into a night of passion spent in his arms.

Ethan knows he can't keep playing this game - he has to come clean with Autumn and tell her the truth; about the practical joke and about the state of his ranch. He's about to lose it all because of the debts his mother racked up before his parents' deaths. Now his sister, Claire, wants to sell the ranch and collect what little money they can. He'll be out of a home and a job, and in no shape to support the bride he desperately wants to marry, after all. Autumn's in bigger trouble than ever. Not only has she fallen in love with the subject of her expose - she might be carrying his child. If she doesn't write this article and secure her contract for another year, she'll lose everything - her career, her apartment, and more importantly, her family's approval. The only alternative is to stay and marry Ethan. But how can she trust a man she's just met when she knows too well that men always let you down?

Looking forward to the rest of the series

Any additional comments?

I thought this was a good plot which was humorous loved how the practical joke came back an bite them in the butt. As with most things when the truth comes out it is very painful. This couple will have a lot to work through before they can find a HEA if they can.

I do have to say the narrator Amy Rubinate wasn't the best I have ever heard. Not saying she was bad I just didn't think her voice fit the story it was to sexy for me. It didn't stop me from listening to her nor from buying two others of this series. I just didn't care for it with this kind of story. But you be the judge don't let what I say stop you from reading it. She isn't bad and in no way did she stop me from listening. This wasn't a book I wanted to listen to all at once but I did want to finish it.

I loved the practical jokes and laughed myself silly over a few of them. It is a book about best friends having fun and how their jokes get them in a mess of trouble. One being how Ethan got his self a mail-order bride. I enjoyed watching this couple fall for each other finding out that maybe what they thought they wanted wasn't it at all but once they listened to their hearts they found what they truly wanted. I have to say this couple had some powerful chemistry between them and the author does give a few surprises to them. lol

There are some great characters here some are misunderstood others just want to cause trouble because they themselves aren't happy. The author reminds us of a few lessons in life. Friends no matter what stand together practical jokes or not. I loved these men and what they stand for. It was nice to see Autumn work out what she really wanted in life even though her mother drilled in her head what a women should want she finally found her way to what her heart desire was. Ethan I just adored him from the start he was a stand up man and his friends are so full of their selves you have to love them. I do look forward to finding out how their lives turn out as the series continues. All in all this wasn't a bad listen to, I did buy two others in this series.

Terrific Series!

What would have made The Cowboy's E-Mail Order Bride better?

Did not care for the narrator at all. Too bad she narrates all the series

Who was your favorite character and why?

Cab....he just seems like a big ol bear you want to hug on!

How could the performance have been better?

Sounds like the narrator didn't even read the book prior to narrating.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

everything! loved it!

Any additional comments?

Please find a new narrator.

Very good

Really enjoyed this book. It has a different feel from most romance novels. Looking forward to seeing what happens in the rest of the series.

Stupid story, bad writing and boring narration

WOW, this book was so stupid I couldn't even finish it! Seriously, it was bad, the writing was stupid and the narration was boring and robotic.

I do not recommend this book sorry. Save your brain cells.

So glad it was free on amazon and only 1.99 on audible, regardless not a good deal. I lost 1.99 and an 1.5 hours of my life I will never get back. I DNF this and you couldn't pay me to finish it!

Heartwarming and swoony

I really enjoyed Ethan and Autumn’s instalove, fake relationship, opposites attract with a side of lying romance. The story was well written and included witty dialogue, three dimensional characters who grow, and an engaging storyline. Ethan is a rancher in Montana who is struggling with the family debt he inherited with his ranch. Autumn is a writer for a sensationalizes women’s magazine in NYC. As a practical joke, Ethan’s friends put his tipsy rant about what he’s looking for in a wife on YouTube as an ad for a mail order bride. Autumn answers his ad thinking it’ll be a great story about the lengths men will go to. But when Ethan sees Autumn at the airport he doesn’t want to tell her it’s a joke. The more time Ethan and Autumn spend together the more real their feelings are but to get to their HEA their both going to have to unravel the lies. The story included sweet moments, steamy scenes, chuckles, supportive friends, messy families, painful pasts, and all the heart squeezing love. I will keep reading this heartwarming series.

Amy Rubinate did a fairly good job narrating with just enough change of inflection, tone and cadence to breathe some emotions into the story and the characters. Unfortunately there was not enough discernible difference in her character speaking voices for characters of the same sex which took away some of my enjoyment of the story.

Spoiler alert

So where did Lacey get Autumn’s laptop? Cab should have arrested her for theft or violation of privacy!

Glad it was short

I liked the story and more so the ending but could not stand the narration. It was like she was only reading a couple sentences at a time. It was very robotic and every sentence had a weird emphasis at the end. If I continue this series it will definitely be in print.

Good story

As always I loved another Cora Seton book. The narrator is good but too soft spoken for this particular book. Hell raising cowboys need a stronger voice.

It was good to see many of the secondary characters from The Cowboy Inherits A Bride. This is an contemporary adaption on the historical mail-order bride theme. Over all it does a good job.

An impractical joke goes bust with a very HEA.

This begins with a joke of epic proportions, but backfires into the very best ending for the two involved. Can true love overcome the huge lies that bring these two together?
