Publisher's Summary

Dani Carrigan has always relied on logic when making important life decisions, but when she discovers she's pregnant - and that there's a chance her baby may be born "not perfect" - logic lets her down.

It would help if the baby's father would pop the question, but widowed father Adrian seems more interested in protecting his six-year-old daughter than committing to his new relationship with Dani. The last time she felt this alone and scared was when she was 16 and her mother died, leaving Dani to raise her younger sisters with precious little help from her distant and disapproving rancher father. She felt so inadequate then, but is she any more prepared to be a mother now?

Support comes from an unlikely source. Dani always saw her next-door neighbour and friend, divorce attorney Elliot Gilmore, as a charming, handsome, playboy-type. But with each challenge she faces, from pregnancy, to delivery and beyond - Elliot reveals himself a better man than she ever guessed.

Is it possible that Elliot hasn't been playing the field - but waiting for her?

Close to her heart

Although well educated, Dani seems to lack common sense and made a lot of stupid decisions regarding her relationship. Also, I would not categorize this book under romance, it was more an after thought. The narrator was just ok, although she was able to use different voices, I could not tell the difference between the ones for the main characters.

This was a touching ad heartbreaking story

Dani loves the wrong man and ends up pregnant. And to top it off her child might have downs syndrome. This is a tale of friendship and then love. So poignant.

Loved

I sincerely enjoyed the way this story went. I will say, I kind wish there was more time spent on the attraction between the two - it was just barely mentioned during the story, though we all knew it was coming. Then boom - they both love each other and everything ends happily ever after. I just yearned for a little more insight into their feelings about each other before all was wrapped up. Still loved it though.

Dani and Elliott

Dani was super needy as soon as one guy was out of the picture she was falling for another. The fact that she didn't talk to anyone in her family about being pregnant was ridiculous. I just didn't feel much of a connection with her. I liked Elliott he seems like a good guy. So far this has been my least favorite book in the series but I didn't hate it just didn't love it.
