What were they thinking with that music?

All the information in this book is very helpful, but the music is literally torture. Like, I could easily imagine it being used in some CIA black site to coerce a confession. How did such a terrible decision to play that song after every section make it so far? And why on top of the awful melody did the composer add a heavy, unimaginative, lethargic, depressed and disconnected base beat? Was it supposed to make it more dancy? What were they thinking?! It's clear that there was some conflict in the making of the audiobook since they wisely switch halfway through the book to a more modest and appropriate piano chime between sections. I still hear that horrendous tune dangling in my mind like a dingleberry clinging a poodle's rear end.

Succinct practical evidence based

This book was short with practical how to advice for parenting that works beautifully. I didn’t realize that most people, including myself, were doing time out all wrong. The evidence based approach is quite a relief as a parent with so many conflicting sources.

does not follow the printed book

ok, so I love this program for parents. But this audiobook has a few flaws.
1. the music is crazy making between topics
2. the audio book chapters do not have topic headings, so it's impossible to use it as a quick reference on different topics.
3. the audio book chapters don't follow the text chapters, so you can't go back and forth or use the text to see what the audiobook chapters are.

All in all the content is super useful for kids with emotional dysregulation, trying to use the tools will work. I've seen it.

tldr: the course is 1000x better than the book, though hard to find. I still say find a course and take it. being around other parents and implementing these techniques over weeks really makes the difference.

Excellent parenting book!

This book follows evidence based parenting strategies. The content is presented very clearly. This is an excellent book!

Concepts and ideas sound possible but not all.

This book has great ideas, starting points, processes, & options. However i found it to be hippie-ish.
It’s not completely realistic for all situations but it is helpful.
I didn’t run across much to addressed if you have trauma children or special needs children.
This seemed like it would work great for your run of the mill family.

Music Intro for each topic is annoying (Audiobook)

I would have preferred reading the book because of the music. I think this book has good ideas but I’m more of a fan of Love and Logic.

Outdated

Concepts and practices are outdated. Time outs are not advised from an “attachment science” perspective, prefer reading “hold on to your kids” by gabor mate
