Story
While teaching ethics is universally applauded, how one goes about it is much more difficult and contested than is often recognized. On Teaching and Learning Christian Ethics addresses what it means to teach and learn ethics through a thorough comparison of two ethicists, Henry Sidgwick and F. D. Maurice. Where Sidgwick understood ethics as developing a method for guiding voluntary action to what is right, Maurice maintained that ethics concerns life as a whole, and that requires placing it within a metaphysical and theological realm in which the good is much more definitive than right.

Story
Picking up where he left off in his electrifying Letter to the American Church, Eric Metaxas renews and deepens his call to believers not to “practice” their faith but to live it—heroically and with joy. Invoking famous but misunderstood words of Dietrich Bonhoeffer, he shows that God’s answer to evil is “religionless Christianity”—the rejection of religiosity and the embrace of a living and active faith, one that consumes the whole person and affects every aspect of his life. The awakening of this faith will bring revival, a “new birth of freedom,” and a renaissance of Christian culture.

Story
What is justice, and how can it be defined? Justice has been defined in various ways throughout the development of political, social, economic, philosophical, and religious literature over the centuries. Justice has been defined as a process as well as an outcome. In how many movies have we seen a character who was told that the evil character had suffered some type of setback and the character said, “This is the first time I have believed there is a God!” What is the connection? Why was the suffering of the evil character an example of the existence of God? This need for right to ...

Story
Superman Ethics is about the highest level of ethics that we may live by and in doing so...we can measure our own ethics against the standard as set by his example. Superman was focused on always doing the right thing, even when no one else was looking. He put himself before others in always making decisions that were in the best interest of what is right, no matter if it meant giving his own life in the presence of danger. Superman ethics challenges others to become more accountable for their moral and ethical perspectives when the basic question of character prevails. The realization of ...

In a few short years, his naval career was thriving as he earned promotion after promotion. He delighted in knowing that his peers saw him living the “good life.” He also found self-worth in driving BMWs, dressing in the trendiest clothes, wearing expensive jewelry, and impressing the ladies. What more could anybody want? But as the lure of success beckoned Chance, so did God. As Chance explains, “One afternoon aboard a naval warship, I was browsing a magazine rack for...

Story
The ability of the world system to conquer and divide has always been based on its efforts to try to divide groups through skewed narratives and warped beliefs. The ultimate agenda of wicked men in power is to separate people because of social class, race, and status. While groups devour one another, those in power gain control by subjecting the people through programs and ideologies that are specifically designed to cause people to bow to the very men creating the narrative. These beliefs and narratives indoctrinate the people to operate in beliefs that place them in further bondage.

I was raised Catholic. You can all bless me now. Surviving a Catholic upbringing is a lot like surviving a repetitive hurricane. Just when you think you’ve got enough protection from the danger someone (Usually my Mother) throws a curve ball of Catholic guilt at you and you’re stuck trying to remember if it is a sin or not, whether it requires a confession, and the amount of shame you should feel. It’s like dodging the hurricane all over again. Depression runs a rough shot in the Catholic religion and trust me, I know why. Happiness is frowned upon.

The Church of the Nazarene claims that homosexuality is a perversion of human sexuality. The denomination and many of its members have also said same-sex sexual acts are sinful and subject to the wrath of God. Most Nazarenes maintains that “homosexual lifestyle” is sinful and contrary to scripture. And yet the Church of the Nazarene also states that all people should be treated with dignity, grace, and as God’s image bearers — regardless of sexual orientation or behavior. And the denomination’s theology is grounded in love and acceptance. Nazarene clergy experience a tension ...

As a lady was throwing ashes on their frozen lake, her neighbor asked: “What are you doing?” “I am putting these ashes on the ice,” she replied. “Why don’t you get your husband to do that?” he enquired. “This is my husband!” she declared! More and more people are opting for cremation. There is little doubt that cremation has become more popular in the Western countries since the mid–twentieth century. There are now around 2,000 crematoria in the United States. Combined together they perform over one million cremations each year. Most hospitals use cremation to dispose of...

“What’s wrong with you?” Scholar, activist, and rabbi Julia Watts Belser is all too familiar with this question. What’s wrong isn’t her wheelchair, though—it’s exclusion, objectification, pity, and disdain. Our attitudes about disability have such deep cultural roots that we almost forget their sources. But open the Bible and disability is everywhere.

How do you eliminate a half trillion annual expense in the US alone? How do you prevent capital offenses in the first place? God has the solution: we just don't like key parts of it. We shoot ourselves in the foot in order to think of ourselves as dignified and compassionate. Yet the responsibility of public stoning (with the rest of the Biblical model) is more dignified and compassionate than any alternative. Death is the most severe court judgment in the full range of Biblical justice tools, and so it deserves primary investigation.

Story

King has, for half a century, been a master of the form, and these stories, about fate, mortality, luck, and the folds in reality where anything can happen, are as rich and riveting as his novels, both weighty in theme and a huge pleasure to digest.

There has been much debate over how we got here, and what to do next, and bestselling author and social psychologist Jonathan Haidt is at the white-hot center of that discourse. Haidt has spent his career speaking wisdom and truth into the most difficult landscapes—communities polarized by politics and religion, campuses battling culture wars, and now the perfect storm contributing to a public health emergency for Gen Z.

For decades we've been told that positive thinking is the key to a happy, rich life. "F*ck positivity," Mark Manson says. "Let's be honest, shit is f*cked, and we have to live with it." In his wildly popular Internet blog, Manson doesn't sugarcoat or equivocate. He tells it like it is - a dose of raw, refreshing, honest truth that is sorely lacking today. The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck is his antidote to the coddling, let's-all-feel-good mind-set that has infected modern society and spoiled a generation, rewarding them with gold medals just for showing up.
