Publisher's summary

A sharp and scintillating summer novel that will make listeners laugh out loud and cry happy tears from the New York Times bestselling author of Yours Truly.

Justin has a curse, and thanks to a Reddit thread, it's now all over the internet. Every woman he dates goes on to find their soul mate the second they break up. When a woman slides into his DMs with the same problem, they come up with a plan: They'll date each other and break up. Their curses will cancel each other’s out, and they’ll both go on to find the love of their lives. It’s a bonkers idea… and it just might work.

Emma hadn't planned that her next assignment as a traveling nurse would be in Minnesota, but she and her best friend agree that dating Justin is too good of an opportunity to pass up, especially when they get to rent an adorable cottage on a private island on Lake Minnetonka.

It's supposed to be a quick fling, just for the summer. But when Emma's toxic mother shows up and Justin has to assume guardianship of his three siblings, they're suddenly navigating a lot more than they expected—including catching real feelings for each other. What if this time Fate has actually brought the perfect pair together?

My new favorite book

Abby's books are always amazing! They are unique in the story, where other authors tend to be repetitive with their themes. Also, a lot of humor, fun, and tears. I never get tired of Zachary Webber and his story telling. There are Easter eggs from previous books- so have some knowledge of those books, is good, but not necessary for this book. There are so many great things in this book, the characters, the symbolism (Abby discusses that in this audiobook after the epilogue in her q&a, so don't miss it). This will definitely be a re-listen for me. Thanks for always writing such great stories!

Abby hits another home run

When Emma reads a post on Reddit about a guy who has a curse (everyone he dates goes on to find the love of their life after they break up) she's surprised. After all, the same thing happens to her. Encouraged by her best friend, who has already done an FBI-grade search on the guy and approves of him) she messages Justin. They hit it off and soon Emma decides to switch her next assignment as a traveling nurse to Minnesota, where Justin lives, instead of Hawaii. They're having the best time texting and FaceTiming and they agree to date in order to cancel each other's curses. Just for the summer. But their worlds are turned upside down when Emma's toxic mother returns and Justin suddenly becomes guardian of his siblings. The circumstances are against them, but what if they were actually meant for each other?
Another audiobook by Abby that I listen to in one sitting! Justin is absolutely adorable with his witty messages, exit questionnaires and date invites. Emma breaks our hearts with everything she has been through and how she still "chooses empathy". They are both going through traumatic experiences but at the same they are clicking so perfectly that your heart breaks when you see that their journey to each other will be hard and painful. The book has cute laugh out loud moments but Abby always makes you tear up too.
Though a standalone, it's pretty much connected to Part Of Your World and Yours Truly and you'll love it even more if you read those. We catch up with many beloved characters!
Narration: Beautifully narrated by Christine Lakin and Zachary Webber. They'll make you cry, laugh and they will break your heart. I highly recommend the audiobook!

Adorable

This one checked all my little boxes for romances. They were both fantastic characters dealing with real life problems. The audio performances matched perfectly.

character development was outstanding

The depth of the back stories for the characters and their struggles. Accuracy of the mental illnesses and treatments. it hit home on some parts. Made me laugh hysterically out loud on other parts! great story ! I've already recommended it to others and I just finished it tonight! finished it in one day! I aspire to create these story lines and character development as a new writer myself! thank you for sharing, I intend to read more of your books!

This was fun

I have been looking forward to the day this book dropped and, as per usual with Abby's books, I devoured it. Zack is still the best leading man. His performance did not disappoint. This wasn't my favorite of Abby's books and while I enjoyed her Easter Eggs I did find myself thinking they were somewhat contrived. Nevertheless, this was a fun and happy read.

Engaging

I’ve been waiting for another one of her books! Downloaded on the first day it was available. Both the performance and story did not disappoint! Love the connection to previous characters.

Highly Recommend 🌟

4.5 stars. This book was a gem! It was my first time reading Abby Jimenez’s books, and I'm now a huge fan! The FMC, Emma, has empathy like no other. Her BF was her anchor, and I loved how she supported Emma when things got bad with her mom.

The MMC, Justin, was the golden retriever boyfriend with a lot going on but stayed level-headed throughout it all. He was there for his family and wanted to be there for Emma even when he was burning the candle on both ends. I'm not into the third-act breakups, but this was one of the exceptions. Emma needed time to be the best version of herself with therapy. The narrators, Christine Lakin and Zachary Webber, did a fantastic job on Audible!

The description doesn't do it justice

this book is *so* good. The description truly does not do it justice, at least not the one on audible. it comes across as a breezy summer romance book, but it is so much more layered and complex than that. this book dives into relationship dynamics, and the impact of life and childhood experiences on adult relationships. it is such an excellent book. highly recommend.

Well written trauma discussion

Could not stop listening. I want to hear more about Emma, Justin, and Mattie and their lives. And Emma’s continued road to recovery.
