Whispers of the Deep

Deep Waters, Book 1

By: Emma Hamm

Narrated by: Will M. Watt, Carmen Rose

One of the many engineers that keep Beta, the city under the sea, running, Mira only wants to make her family proud and to prove herself worthy.

She knows the mysterious city better than anyone and it's her dream to help it flourish. Then, on a solo job in an abandoned section of the city, she encounters a monster of legend: an undine, a dangerous merman from an ancient civilization, long forgotten.

Arges has fought his entire life for his people. With deadly creatures under his control, he plans to eradicate Beta once and for all to protect his kind and their peaceful way of life. But when a human woman saves him, she unknowingly creates a bond between them, one he can't ignore. Even though her flaming red hair haunts his dreams, he needs her for information on the undine's enemies.

So he steals her. Keeps her. Feeds her. Only to realize their bond is far deeper than captor and captive. He cannot let her go but he cannot keep her under the sea, either. In a battle to determine if love can survive a war beneath the waves, it will be their decision that changes the tides.

Good story, awful female narrator

Loved the story itself. A beautiful romance. Unfortunately the incredibly monotonous tone of Mira took me out of the story often. But Arges’s POV was excellent.

Wonderful story

Beautifully written and loved the love between them. My only complaint is the female narrator sounds like she’s reading a list instead of a book. 5* overall though

Amazing performance

I absolutely loved this book. The narration was perfect and the story was so engaging I didn’t want it to end. I don’t really read multiple books in a series but I will definitely be ordering the second book as soon as it comes out.

Beautifully fantasy told with the perfect voices for it

I loved this book when I read it, but listening to this is just so much more immersive. Will and Carmen are wonderful voice actors who really bring Mira and Arges to life. This is a beautiful story of how to enemies can admire the strength and heart in one another even before they understand each other. Such a fantastic book from an amazing author.

Freaking LOVED it!

What an awesome, and kinda hot😏😉🫦, story!! The world build the narration the plot the romance…all just top notch. I seriously loved it, can't recommend enough!
