They stole his crown. So, he stole their daughter…
For years, Erik, the scarred king of the Ever Kingdom, has thought of nothing but vengeance against the man who killed his father and trapped him beneath the waves, making him a prisoner in his own realm.
Until his enemy's daughter unintentionally breaks the chains on the Ever, and Erik makes her the unwitting pawn in his vicious game of revenge.
She's innocent. He's vicious. He will take back what he lost, no matter the price. Unless she steals his heart first.
Welcome to the passionate world of the Ever Kingdom, where pirates, sirens, and fae collide with Vikings in a dark fantasy romance between a villain and the innocent princess who holds his heart.
This book ends on a cliffhanger. This series is set in the same world as the bestselling Broken Kingdoms series but can be listened to independently.

I finally caved and dove into The Ever King, and the hype is real! This book had everything I love: a childhood connection that blossoms into romance, a strong female lead, and a deliciously complex "villain."
Livia is a breath of fresh air. She's not your typical warrior princess. She's unapologetically herself, knows what she wants, and isn't afraid to go after it. I absolutely adored her confidence and spirit.
**Erik, our scarred pirate king? **He might be labeled a villain, but his backstory is heartbreaking. And let's be honest, the "scarred king with a daddy vibe" thing? Yeah, that definitely added to the appeal.
The ending played out a bit predictably, and the world-building got me struggle a bit. However, these were minor bumps in an otherwise captivating read.
Overall, a solid fantasy romance with a unique enemies-to-lovers dynamic. I can't wait to see where the story goes next!

The juxtaposition of those voices as well as having the narrators doing horrendous impressions of each other within their character's POV chapters really decimated the overall listening experience.
Why is it so hard to have the corresponding actor read their character's lines regardless of whose POV it is? It's sheer laziness that these weren't picked out and recorded as such. NOPE, let Long John Silver struggle through speaking in a higher pitch to sound like Bambi's mom and have the doe sound like she's trying to sneak into a gentlemen's only club. R.I.P. My enjoyment of any spicy scenes.
Story-wise, it's Hades/Persephone in a fae-spun Grishaverse, which made it all the more formulaic, like it was pieced together by a focus group.
