From multi-million copy seller, K. L. Slater comes another breath-taking thriller, narrated by Claudia Jessie (star of Bridgerton & Line of Duty)

All she has to do is pretend to be his girlfriend…

Alicia has left her young son and sister to chase a better life in London. But she’s not just chasing opportunity, she’s running from the truth.

At the Orbit, an elite enclave towering above the city where the great and the good come to play, Alicia waits tables, watching everything.

When the charismatic owner of The Orbit offers her a deal - pretend to be her girlfriend in return for a salary and an apartment - Alicia accepts. After all, it’s only pretend … until it’s not.

Soon, Alicia is living the life she’s always dreamed of — but behind the flawless façade, something is deeply wrong and some deals cannot be broken. As her past begins to creep towards her, Alicia thought she was the only one playing a game.

It turns out she wasn’t alone…

I found this in Audible Plus so I took the chance and it is worth the listen if you have time to kill. The storyline is a bit of a stretch on reality, but if you can allow that grace, it moves along quickly and held my attention.

This was a solid 3/5. Good enough to finish but nothing thrilling. Great narrator though!

The story dragged a bit, and I forced myself to finish. I thought the performance was good.

Middling book with good performance

If this was a Reddit AITA thread, the answer would be ESH. Terrible humans collide all over the place, even the 'protagonist' is a jerk, her sister, the bad guy, everyone is just awful. The story had only one interesting twist and a high school student could've written the rest with fewer words.

Narration was good, but why does the sister have a very different accent... like she's from a completely different region? Three stars because it was free and I didn't have to pay too much attention while I did my chores.

Great narration, predictable outcomes

The narrator gives the book life where the book itself lacks. The book probably could’ve been read in three hours if it wasn’t so repetitive the writer has a tendency to describe the same thing 20 different ways the first 20ish chapters. It gets better after the 28th chapter.

Book OK narrator awesome

Loved the great surprise ending. Did not expect that person would play such an important role.

All the power these men had and both lost it all.
