Publisher's summary

In this gripping follow-up to his Edgar Award-nominated mystery, The Deep, Deep Snow, Brian Freeman tells the story of Rebecca Colder, a young sheriff’s deputy who faces the most excruciating choice a mother can make.

I know you’ll never forgive me for what I did. I’m sure you’ve asked yourself that question many times over the years.

Why? Why did I do it?

Well, sweetheart, this is the answer.

I was only 26 years old when the monster came back to Black Wolf County. The answers you want begin at Christmas time that year. However, if you really want to understand everything that happened to me - to us - you have to go even further back in my life.

Years back, to the night I met the Ursulina face to face.

So let’s start there.

Definitely Held My Attention

Started out just intrigued by the monster, then got hooked on how the women at the mine would fare in their litigation & then had to know who the real monster would be

I've listened to quite a few Brian Freeman books, this is a winner. Characters were engaging and the twist was great. I teared up at the ending

A great read and awesome performance

I read Deep Deep Snow and loved that, but this book was so great. I listened to it over one day. January was so good at reading the different parts it really drew me in to the story. I would recommend this to anyone who loves mysteries and thrillers!

Entertaining but …

Not my favorite book of all time, it I read the sequel and thought I’d like the rest of the story. There are a few holes in the story, but I’ll leave it at that.

I’ll read other books by this author, too.

Ps. I write these for myself - so I know whether I liked a book. I read so much I forget them quickly.

Great book

Both Brian freeman’s books were well written and so addicting, listened to both books within a week. Great storyline and with twist and turns. I have also really enjoyed listening to January Lavoy narrate, she does a fabulous job!
