Publisher's summary

In this middle-grade fantasy, perfect for fans of Nevermoor and The School for Good and Evil series, humor, heart, and a symphony of magic take center stage.

Amelia Jones has always dreamed of attending the Mystwick School of Musicraft, where the world’s most promising musicians learn to create musical magic. Unfortunately, Amelia botches her audition and her dream comes crashing down—until the school agrees to give her a second chance. Amelia vows to do whatever it takes to make her dream come true.

However, between a teacher who really dislikes her and a roommate who wants to see her expelled, Amelia has her hands full. On top of that, supernatural powers are threatening Mystwick, and Amelia might be the only person who can save the school…but only if she can remain true to herself. The combination of Jessica Khoury’s storytelling mastery, the highly-nuanced performance by award-winning narrator Suzy Jackson, and the songs, musical interludes, and original compositions included in this audio (all performed by the NJSO Youth Orchestras) makes it a treat for all fans of the fantasy genre.

"Toe-tapping fantasy mixes music and mystery."

LOVED IT!!!

I absolutely LOVED listening to this book!!! I'm 32 years old and a truck driver and I myself got wrapped up in the story AND the music. I loved the song that Amelia composed when she was in the treehouse and again finishing it at the end of this story. BEAUTIFUL! ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL JOB WITH IT ALL!! I truly hope this becomes a show because I will definitely watch it!! 💓💓💓💓💓

It's like a musicians version of Harry Potter

Very good story, the audiobook was very well performed. If you are a Harry Potter fan, it was like reading the first book for the first time and being submerged into an interesting world of magic.

What a delight!

I really enjoyed this book. Being a former band member and band mom, I thought this was a blast. The story is so cute about a young woman going through a Juilliard type audition and failing miserably (Haven’t we all been there at one time?). I really thank the youth orchestra for making this work of fiction three dimensional. You added so much! Also the narrator for a wonderful performance and the author for a great story!! More please!!!

Magical!

Absolutely loved this story. It may have been written for young adults, but this middle-aged adult couldn't stop listening. It was a well-written, charming story with believable characters--which, in turn, made the fantasy more believable. The author is very skilled at weaving suspense with emotion. The music added a unique element and, for many young people, would be a great introduction to the classics. Will look for more by this author!

Another Book?

It's a charming tale of 7th grader Amelia Jones and her struggles to prove to everyone (and herself) that she belongs in the Mystwick School of Musicraft. The audiobook is fantastic with the music effects to bring the story to life. Feels like there are a few unnecessary tangents to the story, but maybe it is a setup for the next book.

Loved the story and the orchestra

I hope for this to become a full series with prequels. The accompanying orchestra was the perfect addition to this story.

A wonderful story

Young teens that are into music or magic will enjoy this story.
The feeling of being "not good enough" is something most young teens deal with. Amelia has a lot to deal with. The journey she pursues is a lesson many can use.
Suzy Jackson does a wonderful job as narrator. She brings the story to life.

A fun and mystical story

I would recommend this book for anyone who is a music lover, and enjoys children’s literature.
The story is a full performance with orchestra and Suzy Jackson brings to life the characters and story.
