Publisher's summary

When Alyssa was a child, she decided not to believe in demons. If you don't believe, then they can't be real, right? But the demons don't care what you believe.

Alyssa grabs her six-year-old daughter and escapes into the forest outside the compound. Her father's death haunts every step. He died trying to save her from the cult when she was a child. This time, failure is not an option.

Keeping a few steps ahead of the elders, Alyssa crosses paths with a truck driver named Gabe. Suddenly, she dares to believe she might succeed. Yet Alyssa can't bring herself to warn Gabe of the demon horde that's fast on their heels.

Gabe's gentle kindness sends ripples of emotion throughout Alyssa's petite form. Emotions she's never felt before. But will he be strong enough to protect her from the approaching evil?

Intriguing Story

Fans of Angels and Demons or Supernatural will enjoy this story, although they may have to put what they "know" of how angels and demons behave on a shelf to truly enjoy this story. The story is well-written, and while the narration starts off very well-enunciated, it gets better and smoother as the story continues. The story is left quite open at the end, leaving listeners ready for the next installment.

Unpredictable Adventure

The storyline was constantly moving and because of the nature of the enemy you never knew what the next obstacle was going to be. The description made it easy to picture the scenes and battles in your mind without making it dull, pretty decent balance. Contained a love story without the sappy gooey nature of many of the romances out there.
The narrator could use a little more definition for the male characters but it didn't keep me from enjoying the story.

Archangel romance and action

We are introduced to Alyssa and her daughter Samantha who have escaped and are running from a cult where Alyssa grew up. They run into Gabe, who helps them escape and run from the cult members to Alyssa's grandmother's farm. Spoiler Alert: we find out the cult members are really demons and that Gabe is the Archangel Gabriel. There is lots of action and the story kept my interest. This is a clean romance and at the end, there is a HEA. This book is recommended. for 10-18 yo, but I think it's for readers/listeners older than 10. Trigger warnings: discussions of rape, Alyssa was rated repeatedly in her past which is how she had Samantha, there is bloody violence, mention of children soiling themselves, a naked woman eaten alive...you get it. I would not let my 10yo listen/read this unless you are prepared to answer questions and deal with nightmares.

Nice story not so good narrator

The world Alaina created is very interesting and intriguing... and I would like to know what happens next...but the narrator did not do justice... she has a strange accent and sometimes sounds just like the iPhone Siri.

Also, I would love to have more romance built up between the 2 main characters... the book felt to short, but maybe this is just because I enjoyed the story.

Battle

Good verses evil in this tale. A woman and her child are followed cross country as they run from the cult they narrowly escaped. On their journey they meet a man named Gabe who takes it upon himself to help them to safety.
