Publisher's Summary

Solene Marchand, the 39-year-old owner of an art gallery in Los Angeles, is reluctant to take her daughter, Isabelle, to meet her favorite boy band. But since her divorce, she's more eager than ever to be close to Isabelle. The last thing Solene expects is to make a connection with one of the members of the world-famous August Moon.

But Hayes Campbell is clever, winning, confident, and posh, and the attraction is immediate. That he is all of 20 years old further complicates things. What begins as a series of clandestine trysts quickly evolves into a passionate and genuine relationship. It is a journey that spans continents as Solene and Hayes navigate each other's worlds: from stadium tours to international art fairs to secluded hideaways in Paris and Miami.

For Solene, it is a reclaiming of self, as well as a rediscovery of happiness and love. When Solene and Hayes's romance becomes a viral sensation, and both she and her daughter become the target of rabid fans and an insatiable media, Solene must face how her romantic life has impacted the lives of those she cares about most.

Contains mature themes.

Sadly, this book did not live up to my expectation

I firmly believe that this is a case of "it's not the book, it's me". While this book was beautifully written, I just couldn't connect with it at all.

I honestly felt that 75% of this book is the pretty much the same scene over and over and OVER again, just in a different setting. I was bored.

And TBH, all of the pretension in this book really turned me off.

I couldn't connect with or relate to these characters and their lifestyle, and I never got invested in their relationship. I went into this pretty much assuming what the outcome of the book would be, and I was right, so perhaps that was part of the issue?

I really am sad that I didn't enjoy this book as much as I thought I would. So many friends loved it, and I really wanted to feel that, but I just didn't.

The narration was lovely, Robinne did a wonderful job portraying this story, but that couldn't save this one for me.

Horribly cheesy romance novel

I love a good romance every now and then and with the stellar reviews of The Idea of You I had high hopes. Imagine if the lead singer of One Direction took a fancy to you and you started a hot affair? What could be better... Wrong! Utterly predictable and implausible, I just couldn't get lost in the story the way I wanted to and ended up giving up about 1/2 way through.

Everything!

Robinne Lee is everything! The story, the perfomance, the realness of love and how it has no bearing on whose heart is chosen. The idea of you is gave love another level. ~Yana

Fantasy meets Reality

I have so many thoughts about The Idea of You. I am not even sure where to begin. First off, can we all take a moment to appreciate how incredible this cover is? This book has created quite the buzz in the book world, especially in the romance genre. Robinne Lee was a new-to-me name, but this book came highly recommended by some of my most favorite writers. I put full trust in their opinions and blindly dove in. I was shocked to find out this was Lee’s debut novel because it was so well written. Even more so because she did an absolutely fantastic job narrating the audible version. Her acting skills were evident as she brought the characters and their emotions to life. The Idea of You is the perfect marriage of the fantasies of my tweenage self with the realities of my adult self. I was always dreaming that it would only take one look for Jordan Knight or Justin Timberlake to notice me and from there, we would live happily ever after. Although after reading this, I am a little relived they never panned out. Solene is a 39 year old woman who escorted her 12 year old daughter and friends to an August Moon concert, which also included a backstage Meet and Greet. She happens to catch the eye of 20 year old Hayes Campbell, who is a member of the oh-so-popular boy band. Their May-December romance began with lust at first sight, but morphed into a love beyond their physical chemistry. Hayes Campbell. My God. He was wooing me right along with Solene. He has many different sides to him, but my favorite is his romantic one. Unfortunately this relationship did not come without its hardships. There is the age difference, their responsibilities, his celebrity status and crazed fans, social media and the need for personal and professional acceptance. Beyond the relationship between Hayes and Solene, I loved the relationship between Solene and her daughter. There were certain characters and references that I would have liked more elaboration, but ultimately it ended the way it was supposed to (Unless there is another book in progress, which I am more than okay with). I understand why people may not like the ending. But I did. It was raw and it was real. It is easy to get lost in the pages, so it would make a great summer/vacation/beach read!

Such a great romance

I didn't expect to be sucked into the story as much as I was. I loved the flow, and I let the story guide me without any expectations. I have seen quite a bit of buzz regarding this book and lots of different emotions. I thought the writing was fantastic and I could picture everything like it was a movie. I think the abruptness of the ending was executed well. It was after all only supposed to be lunch. Even if we never get another book, I am happy with how everything turned out. Simply put this is a love story, but not in a traditional sense. As the tagline says "What if your teenager's fantasy was your reality?" Most woman I know grew up loving some type of boy band, it's an inevitable part of growing up. To see it played out with a middle-aged woman and 20 something was a wonderful break from the new adult type of romances I have been reading.
