Stunning in scope and beautifully written

I know I am not going to do this book justice with my review because I am not eloquent like that but man oh man what a book. I know it’s going to be ambitious but this goes beyond everything I thought I could expect from Kennedy. It’s stunning in its scope and the multiple subplots that she weaved. It’s a beyond any romance I have ever listen to. She brought so much knowledge to the subject matter that I feel like I am getting a masterclass in the black renaissance of the twenties. I was googling the back story as I was listening. She writes with such conviction and depth of knowledge that informs the listener as well as tells an epic love story. if you are looking for scorching love scenes she has you covered.

Then on top of all that she weaved in the critical illness subplot that blows everything out of the water. The delicate way the story handles that tells you she has done her research into the subject matter and I stan her got all that she did to educate me about it.

Jakobi and Eboni really elevates the story with their performances. Their narration deserved all the accolades. The casting for this book is perfection.

Good but need closure

The narrators were amazing. I loved the vocal performance aspect of this book. Not only was the singer great, but it brought more life to the book. I was disappointed at the ending, because it left so much out there to be said. It was extremely rushed and and provided no closure to what the book had built up.

I don’t even know where to start!!!

This book had me laughing, crying, breathing hard, dripping 😩, The raw DESIRE that this book drew out of me!!! OMG!! Then the actual storyline was so enthralling!!! I stopped midway to go see if Desi was real! I hate we didn’t get to opening day for the movie… to hear how they took her artistry serious! The narrator that read Canon is too much for me… that “You want me” whisper bout had me shaking at my dang knees 😂😂😂 SWEET JESUS!!! This book was epic!!! This author is a literary genius! Thank you for sharing this story!

Narration and Story

This is my second Kennedy Ryan book and I’m honestly in LOVE. The story was so amazing and well written. Jakobi’s voice does it for me everytime lol

Fantastic Black Love Story

This was a wonderful story of love, challenge, commitment and openness. Creates desire of self reflection and the importance of family and community.
