Publisher's summary

The arrival of Buffalo Bill's Wild West show in London brings trouble. When the sharpshooter who beats Willie at poker is murdered, Matt and India investigate. Willie is convinced the victim cheated, but no one knows how until India discovers his secret - he was a paper magician.

When their list of suspects grows to include a member of the mysterious magic Collector's Club, they uncover a spy. But who is he working for? And what does his employer want?

As danger circles, secrets are revealed, and India struggles to keep her own secret hidden from Matt. But when her grandfather introduces her to a man who can change her life, India must decide if she wants her life to change at all.

Loved it just sad I have to wait for the next book!

I’ve enjoyed the whole series and this book didn’t disappoint. The books all follow a similar format and are easy, enjoyable reads.

Another great glass and stale novel.

Lots of twists and turns as any good mystery encompasses. Don’t miss out on this next chapter of the series.

Finally, and yet...

Totally engrossed since Book 1!!! Don't want it to ever end. Even the repetitions of familiar feelings are delicious. The voice given to Matt makes my heart yearn for passion.

Finally, a solved mystery and a wedding!

Wonderful story, great mix of misfits and proper gentry, but please… the American accents are shameful!

Fun Series

This is one of those series that's easy to listen to, a little bit like a beach read. When I want something fun to read I turn to C. J. Archer.

Not Disappointed But...

I have forgotten the story, which is one of the worst indictment I can give a story. I enjoyed it while I listened to it but now I can not remember the story. This is not the fault of the story but because I have read and heard so many that I do not remember any but the exceptional.

Cheaters in cards, tests, the law

India and Willie attend Buffalo Bill’s Wild West Show instead of attending Sheriff Payne’s hanging. Matt bought them tickets for when he’s out of town with Aunt Letitia attending the scheduled wedding of Patience and Lord Cox. After the show, India views some exhibits while searching for Willie who she finds playing poker with Emmett & Danny. E&D invite Willie to join them in more poker that evening at the Tavern where members of BBWWS will also be hanging out. Thus starts their involvement with these characters when Emmett is soon murdered and his lady love disappears.
In between the investigation, India plans her wedding to Matthew which takes place in the last chapter.

Editing really slipped on this book: Chapter 12: the last time her landlady saw Dottie was the night of Danny’s murder? Don’t they mean Emmett?

Enjoyable

I enjoy the characters and storyline. Too many anachronisms and contradictions from earlier books trouble
