Jane Austin meets Supernatural.
I very much enjoyed these 3 books (1. Manners and Monsters, 2. Galvanism and Ghouls, and 3. Gossip and Gorgons). I was pulled into this series from my Chirp account with the first book Manners and Monsters, I saw that the first three books were a collection and had to grab it as I was left wanting more from the first book. This has some of my favorite genre’s cozy mystery, regency romance, fantasy. I will be continuing with this series. Light on the romance and no sex involved. Narrator does an excellent job.

Perfect narration, Wonderful Story
The narration is so perfect for this book. The characters are quirky and lovable. The story is unique and I love it. I love the time period and the touch of romance and mystery. I have never read a series quite like this but am looking forward to reading the next 3 books in the series. Kind of like a mashup of the Addams Family and Pride and Prejudice with Zombies or something. I am so happy that the same narrator is reading the next 3 books. I love her voice, especially when she speaks as Hannah.

I enjoyed listening to it.
I am surprised that I liked this book I usually listen to sci-fi and fantasy. Paranormal mysteries are hard for me to like especially with romance but this series is very well written, narration was top notch and once I finished I bought the others in the series.

Plots more forced than Star Wars
The premise and setting for the story is quite good and the narrator is talented with a pleasant voice. However, the trite plot is clunky and the themes are choked by the mediocre writing. Wallace shows creativity and promise, but has certainly not delivered in these first offerings.

Warning: Don't read while eating
The story premise is solid. The audio performance was good. However, the decision on how to tell the story made my stomach turn. Don't even attempt to read this while eating. I have read some strange things but this is the first book that made me gag.
To be fair I don't think that this was poorly written at all. It is just not for me.

Manners & Monsters Collection is like Beer,an acquired taste you learn to love before you know it!
This author & story premise was new to me having been out of the reading world for almost 5 years I was hopeful the recorded books would satisfy my need to read again but I’ve found that some of my favorite types of books don’t translate to my personal taste while discovering trying new types of books do I used to read roughly a book a day then because of a side effect of medicine I can only read @ certain times of day, never @ night reading fast doesn’t translate to “ hearing fast” either I am not complaining it could be so much worse ant that brings me back to my review I loved the different style of period romance and fantasy sci-fi It would be great if the next 3 were turned into a boxed set as well the performer got on my nerves from time to time drawing out the S sound it’s not every time but when they’re grouped together it sounds like a box of snakes-not in an oh how scary way- but annoying If you are contemplating something a little different listen or read this collection I don’t think you’ll be disappointed other than you have pay for the last 3 separately but that’s real life for you Good Luck Tilly Wallace with whatever comes next

Light Victorian Goth, “Who Done It?” Worth It!
This is Series 1-3 takes You from start to finish. Actually, imho from mid-way to finish as some aspects of the story that are referenced have already happened in the back story, are still having a direct impact on the storyline today.
This is a light “Who Done It?”, in that it is fairly obvious and predictable, when it comes to the “Who” and “Why”, you see them coming a mile away. However, because the story has so much going on, so much action, so many characters that are wonderfully fleshed out and detailed, along with many peripheral characters who come and go, You never end up bored or waiting for something interesting to happen.
The Characters are Delightful. The Story ends up being one long story, but with two smaller (“who done it?”) stories interwoven into it. The Gothic concepts are standard, but with some unique qualities that I found quite imaginative, so Bravo! to the Author. The setting of the Victorian Age, is constantly or I should say consistently explained to the Listener, which is a good thing for those who do not have any Victorian Age references.
Long and Short of IT:
• It’s Worth the Credit
• It’s 2 Light Hearted, “Who Done It’s?”, inside of a Gothic Romance.
• No Sex - Didn’t need it, Did wonderfully expressive of individuals’ emotions etc without it.
• I would buy again, the next, etc, Yes, I will be checking out this Author’s other works.

A charming fun listen
found this to be a light, fun listen with some lovely nods to many things gothic.
there's the occasional serious point but all treated delicately & at a pace where a point is made but not laboured.
shortly heading for book 4
